Is there a sports writer in particular that is considered the top guy when it comes to Liverpool? If so where online can I find his work and perhaps contact info?

Thanks,

I think that would be Chris Bascombe at Liverpool Echo (http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/). I didn't see a direct contact email but I'm sure you can go through the Echo

a lot of his work also appears on the official website http://www.liverpoolfc.tv

google (http://www.google.com/search?q=chris+bascombe&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a)

Another one you may want to get in touch with is Paul Tomkins (http://www.paultomkins.com/). His health is a bit poor right now so he may not reply promptly to queries.

I'd go with Chris -- he's got lots of contacts in side the club and writes decently.

Chris Bascombe is my favorite writer about Liverpool. He is pretty straightforward and he writes decently and gives reliable information. I thought his part in 100 players that shook the Kop was good.

Bascombe did get played (http://observer.guardian.co.uk/osm/story/0,,1560059,00.html) though......

Fowler writes that Houllier used the influential Liverpool Echo to make fans question his form and attitude, briefing a young, raw reporter, Chris Bascombe, against him, even telephoning the writer to berate him if he had praised Fowler in a game. (Bascombe later explained in detail Houllier's tactics, having wised up when pressured to do the same with Owen.)
