For the "best" question: considering the number of matches played, the poll should maybe restricted to Mittan, Shon Sas, Langara and Petkovic.

Although most Brazilians who know Petkovic may agree that he's an outstanding player, it seems to me that a legendary status wasn't reached by him outside Vitória, as Welfare achieved in Fluminense, a top team in his time together with Paulistano.

So you are confirming that there are a lot of South American legends in European teams, but no European legend in South American teams.

The reason a lot of Europeans played in Columbia is because Columbia was a rogue league for a while (in the 50s I believe) and was therefore exempt from all the FIFA rules. They didn't pay transfer fees so they could pay their players more. For more info, check out the book "The Ball is Round"

Oh yes (that was also the reason why Alfredo Di Stefano played in Colombia, and why he was able to go in Spain without worries regarding his contract, because Colombian contracts were not recognized by FIFA).

Thanks for the hint. It seems a very interesting book!

Zidane (http://goal.com/en-us/news/465/france/2009/03/17/1162026/corinthians-dream-of-pairing-zidane-with-ronaldo) would of course beat them all.
