Dude...i think ur the only person who's making sense. The team should have be in New York City. Shea would have been a great place for the metrostars inception. I think most people on this board aren't from NYC or own cars in NYC. For the people like us...we will never go to a game after work because its too much of a hassle and cost a lot, it sucks.

The new stadium will have access to the PATH so thats not to bad...but i don't think anyone who organized the team was actually a New Yorker.

So what if people are from NYC, southern NY state, or northern NJ? It's all one big happy region. They put the team in the biggest stadium in the region, a stadium that 80K or so go to each week in the fall and early winter.

What more do you want?

And most games are on weekends, when most people don't work. Sorry if they can't accomodate your particular schedule.

Born and raised in Manhattan.

Currently living in Brooklyn (in a non-shoreline neighborhood).

No automobile to speak of.

ESC member since 1998.

I've gone to games on the PA bus. You're making it seem like it's the "40 year wandering through the Egyptian desert." It ain't. It's not thrilling, but I wanna get to the game, and that's how I f***ing got there.

YOU MAKE IT F***ING HAPPEN

or

YOU DON'T

F*** the excuses. People just straight up ain't making it happen.

Gee, I was a MEtrostars season ticket holder for 5 years, went to nearly every game. How many games have you been to, newbie?

It's not laziness. It's identity. I'm not a Red Bulls fan because of their corporate identity, and please, let's not go there. I was a devoted metrostars fan in spite of, not because of, the fact that they were located in NJ.

I identify as a New Yorker from NYC. NJ, Rockland county, long island by and large doesn't interest me. I don't identify with the "region", I identify with the City. It's not laziness, I would find it more exciting to have a NYC team to root for.

Pony up the money then and you can have one.

It amazes me the effect rivers have on some people. You'd have thought we Americans have never heard of bridges or tunnels.

If you "was" a season ticket holder, and you're in here complaining like a woman (sorry, Jen), then you have officially surrendered your ability to refer to anyone as a "newbie" . . especially when directed towards someone like Mr. Lakai, who is actually not a newbie.

It's not rivers, it's culture. I think that I and my ilk from NYC share more in common with people who live in Los Feliz in L.A., or Mission in S.F., for example, than a guy from Glen Ridge, Ho-Ho-Kus or Piscataway. Why is that a surprise to you? Tehre is nothing about the suburban NJ experience that has anything I identify with or enjoy -- I mean no offense. Why should simple geographic proximity be the source of pride or identification for a person?

That just seems silly.

Yeah, it is culture. I agree, THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT THE SUB-URBAN NJ EXPERIENCE THAT HAS ANYTHING I IDENTIFY WITH OR ENJOY. Or for that matter, Queens, western LI or the Bronx.

That doesn't stop me from going to games.

It didn't me either, until Red Bull took over.

But still, it would be a more exciting experience if there were a NYC team. That's what I'm saying.
