I'm a new fan to the EPL. I watched a good amount of games this year, and some of these players really stood out(besides the real obvious household names)..how good are they?

Adebayor
Martins
Baptista
Portsmouth's goalkeeper(can't remember his name)
Kalou
Gillespie

One other Brazlian descent player on Tottenham really stood out with his moves many times.

Adebayor isn't that great, Martins is, but is a bit inconsistant. David James is good but is mistake-prone and crumbles under pressure. Baptista is a good player but hasn't really been at his best. Kalou, not seen too much of but seems a good player. Gillespie is a rubbish player on a suprisingly competent run of form, but it won't last. He's nowhere near any of the other players on that list.

As far as I'm aware, Spurs don't have anyone who's Brazilian?

Yeah, I don't think Spurs have a Brazilian player.

Jermaine Jenas though looks like he's related to Rivaldo.

Jenas, isn't brilliant, but he does have his moments.

Berbatov is Tottenham's best player this season, can't really mistake him for being Brazilian though.

Thanks.

You're right, he's not on Tottenham, they were playing them the game i saw him in. I do remember his team jersey was blue, he was fairly tall and built with strong looking legs and good moves. This was months ago.

I'll find him sooner or later..

The fact that you had to mention his team about says it.

Yeah I searched for Brazilians in the Premiership on google and his one of the only names that came up. I thought Everton = blue so why not?

I'm guessing that this player isn't actually Brazillian and is in fact Arteta or someone.

Adebayor- potentially very good, but misses alot of easy goal chances.

Martins- very good, i expect more from him next season

Baptista- was brilliant in his Sevilla( spanish league team) days, but hasnt managed to adjust to the prem. Slow, poor shooting, misses easy chances, bad touches.

Portsmouth's goalkeeper(can't remember his name)- David James, He's gor brilliant reflexes but is sometimes error-prone( hence his nickname of David James). He's been great this season though

Kalou- good, but i feel he still has alot to offer.

Gillespie- see act smiley's comment on him

Adebayor: good player, but still need to improve himself. He didn't play consistently
Martins: good at the start of the season, but i think he is never improved. When still 18 in Inter, everyone said he will become big player, but I don't think he will become great player, only mediocre
Baptista: only good when in Sevilla, in Madrid and Arsenal, he's not that good.
Kalou: I think he's fine. Just fine. He is the best signing in Chelsea last season, better than Ballack and Cole.

Sorry for that post. I was a bit woozy. I meant to say his nick name was Calamity James. He's been our number 1 signing last summer so i don't think anyone would call him that anymore.

Was suprising that Wenger wanted him wasnt it? Odd that he went for a player of his style. I don't see what is so good about him, although he does have his moments, he's not that bad.

If the guys was playing against Tottenham, could it not be Daniel Alves of Seville in the UEFA Cup? They played Tottenham, he's certainly Brazilian, just not sure what colour Seville's home/away tops are?

I think alot of people don't give Kalou enough credit, he has alot of potential, he is just overshadowed by chelseas more talented stars. he would do better if he was on one of the smaller teams where he could shine a little more.

Since this was bumped, I suppose I'll give my opinions now.

Adebayor: Always gives 110% effort, but he's not a natural goal scorer and never will be. He will go on great scoring runs, then have a month-long goal drought, then a lengthy scoring run, goal drought, etc. With Henry no longer around to give him dirty looks us gooners think he will improve next season.

Martins: Lots of potential, had a great season last year. Attitude problems, however, and no one knows how old he actually is.

Baptista: Inconsistent. He scored 6 of his goals last season in the Carling Cup, 1 in the champion's league. Terrible in the league; missed all 3 penalties he took last season. We're glad to be rid of him.

David James: Good last season, but he generally follows up a good season with a downright terrible one and is therefore sold after 1-2 years at whatever club he goes to.

Kalou: Good player, but he still has a lot to prove and if I were in charge of Chelsea, I don't know if I'd be comfortable with him as my main backup striker. Although Pizarro has been signed, so (Chelsea fans help me out here) I guess he's 4th choice now.

Gillespie: The only thing I can think of about him is his sending-off after being on the pitch for 10 seconds last season, I think it was against Everton?
