I was there today and I was embarrassed by the team - crowd - and lack of action .
EVERYWHERE else the MLS seems to work, LA , Toronto, Houston, etc..Colorado on an on - I watch all the games, solid crowds, vocal, fun attacking football and what do the RBNY do today? SET THE SPORT BACK 10 YEARS.
I hope JP Angel doesn't think he made a mistake, because we didn't get him one quality ball all day - we didn't even show up.
And this is a decade of this crap that Stadium is a disgrace, that carpet is slap in the face to the professionals who come to play on it.
If I were Garber - I'd look to move NJ out of the league - to a place where people will appreciate the sport and club.

Every team has a bad game. Get over it. Did you miss our first 4 games?

Thank God you are not Garber, NY/NJ has a huge market potential.

Red Bull needs to get the word out there that a MLS team plays in NJ...thats all it is...Marketing or lack there of.

One result gets you down face it we're not going to win every game nor will we get the vocal support until well we get more of those kids into adults and they start to follow the team. Don't expect our crowds to sound like MUFC..

Ladies and gentlemen, I have an announcememnt to make :

This is NOT my sockpuppet. I swear on the grave of me sainted grandmother.

MacDanna - overreact much? We're getting a new stadium in 2008 (or 09 at his point). That will cure several of the problems faced right now. 101 sounded excellent on MSG (wipeout came through loud and clear) and to get the hardcore that left back on a consistent basis is step one on the way back. As to the game, we were missing three key starters, and it was our first really not very good game this year.

(and to Ives, who compared this to May of last year - I say I remember May of last year, and I tell you, this was not a performance out of May last year. It wasn't great, it wasn't even passable, it was frustrating, but it was not execrable)

This board is entirely too ********ing bipolar for even my tastes.

We win, and we act like a bunch of Rutgers football fans, we lose in front of 7,200 and people are either cackling with glee that they can be negative again (*waves at golazo*) or suicidal

Enough*

Aww, mad your poor little team got whipped by West Ham this morning? Poor baby, somebody get this guy a bottle and some baby wipes.

Lucky thing you're not a real fan of this team and no one cares what you think. Live soccer in NY, and indeed the US, is clearly something new for you. Calm your liver, newjack.

I hope JP Angel doesn't think he made a mistake, because we didn't get him one quality ball all day - we didn't even show up.

Who is "we"? You don't even list this team as one you support. There is no "we", there is "you" talking about "us". I think you're missed at your Wanks Abroad forum, maybe they'll listen to you whine.

If I were Garber - I'd look to move NJ out of the league - to a place where people will appreciate the sport and club.

Quick, someone appoint this guy to a marketing advisory board for the MLS somewhere, he clearly know whats best and fiscally realistic for MLS and this club to do.

I watched the game on tv and it was bad.
NJ was a big mistake, it should have been Queens NY from the beginning .
All the money the league wasted on rent NJ, NJ is bad for sports (outside of the NFL), Devils do great and still can’t sell tickets, and you see where the Nets are moving.
I live in Manhattan and I don’t know anyone from NYC that wants to make a trip to NJ for any reason.

I don't think it's NJ. Many teams, including pro soccer teams have drew tens of thousands of people to the swamp. The biggest effect on attendance IMO has been the fact that this team has done exactly jack squat since its inception. I have been going to games sicne the beginning and have sat through some pretty painful seasons. Many others did not have the same resolve.
I'm sure that if the team had challenged for the championship year after year and had won it once or twice, attendance would be in the 30 to 40 K range.

I guess you aren't counting when the ball was passed to his feet with no defender within 5 yards, 8 yards from the goal, with the keeper out and he kicked the ball meekly into the defender standing on the goal line.

If you aren't counting that pass you might be on to something.

You obviously hate New York Region. There is no place for people who hate New York Region on these boards. Go troll somewhere else.

I don't mind fans of foreign teams coming to GS to watch games, or even criticism of the level of play or support - plenty of our fan base does this regularly. I do question the apocalyptic tone of some newbie threads & posts, however! One game (or crowd) does not make a season. Step back from the ledge. All is not lost.
mad your poor little team got whipped by West Ham this morning?
Easy, now. He could have been a Sheffield United fan!
we were listening to the game on 1280AM at a BBQ and it sounded great...i swore more than 15K were there.
Perhaps some media outlets have crowd microphones? (They would need profanity filters in 101!)

Where would the team have played the last eleven seasons? No one can get approval in NYC for any outdoor stadium. The Giants & Jets have been in NJ for decades because neither could get a stadium built in NYC. The stadium for Boston is an hour outside the city. How many years has the Brooklyn arena been in progress?
P.S. When the new stadium is built, NYCers will just have to convince themselves that the PATH is a new subway line: the "P" train! :D

Everyone I know who lives in Manhattan thinks that going anyplace more than 10 blocks from their apartments is a cross-continental journey to uncharted wilderness. I don't know anyone from the East Village that wants to make a trip to midtown for any reason. What makes you think Queens is any different than NJ?
