...for around 3 million pounds.

He's a useful player, not quite international standard and therefore struggled at Liverpool but a good player none the less. I don't why people try to play him out left though.

I guess El Tel wants lots of yes men around him so he's signing all his old Spurs cronies. Anderton next I suppose.

Lets hope Barmby gets some more PT at Leeds.

Depends where they play him. He won't oust Kewell from the left side but may well be seen as Bowyers replacement on the right. Dacourt, Johnson, Bakke et al will be central midfielders.

What is up with Bowyers? Are Leeds really ready to let him walk at the end of the year on a free? Is he simply demanding way too much in terms of $$$?

I don't know what Bowyers wants right now since the Liverpool deal fell though. I guess he stays on unless sometime happens. TV set the deadline on January for him.

I have it on good authority that Leeds aren't as keen to keep Bowyer as some might like to think.
It's not necessarily about the $$$, more to do with the naughty business that he and also Woodgate were involved in.
He's a bit of a hot potato.

Liverpool's official site confirms the details so far:

He's a complete thug and a moron. Who on earth would get drunk in Leeds City centre when they play for Leeds and then get in a fight. Have drink driving issues, training ground bust ups, lack of respect for the manager and completely off days on the park.

On several occasions.

I have no sympathy if his career takes a nose dive.
I hope for his sake it doesn't but to be given his talent, get a job with one of the top teams in one of the top leagues in the world, and then act like he has/does, it just beggars belief.

As much as some people might not like it or like to admit to it, footballers are role models to a huge number of children. Especially those who play for high profile teams and who had just about made the England setup.

Grrrr..

Surely the transfer of Barmby has swayed the balance of power in the EPL going into this season....

I thought they were in that ************ club off the top of The Headrow. They beat up a asian lad from the Leeds area so I assume it was there. Could be wrong though.

Motterman you crack me up! :)

So Judas disappears with his tail firmly between his legs...look like we did good business when Liverpool bought him from us :)

Yeah, 6 mill we got for him.

The depressing thing about barmby is that he remains to be our record signing.

Shame about Barmby, in my opinion. I suppose he was just the first of the Diomede/Berger/Barmby surplus to get a ticket out. Personally, I think we should have kept him, he's a good player and did very well for us in his one fit season at the club. Scored some crucial goals in Europe and, of course, that oh-so-funny one against the slime.

And you didn't get £6m for him. You got £4m for him, the rest was tied to appearance money and he ain't done the numbers. We have a similar agreement with Leeds which could see the fee rise to £3.5m for us by the end of the season. So at least it was good business, even if it is a shame to see him go.

Bowyer to Arsenal now, we must presume?

and why did we sell him for £2.75m?

it was obvious El Tel really wanted him..we could have demanded at least £4m for him

its not as if Barmby played crap for us or anything like that....i remember him weighing in with some excellent performances and vital goals in the treble season

im not to happy about this...especially while vladimir smicer is still at this club

grrrrrrr
