But that's the point - we will get far more than £2.75m for him if he does alright at Leeds. We will get around £3.5m to £4m. Which, given how flat the market is, represents good business on a player who, although he contributed when fit, was unfit and unavailable for selection for roughly half the time he spent at the club.

you are probably right

he was probably sold cos of his wages (approx £40k a week)

thats too much for a squad player

but after getting rid of macca, redders AND now barmby..i fully expect houllier to make a move for a right sided midfielder before the start of the new season

my moneys on Emerton

You might be bang-on there. Diao arrived today and was given the squad number 21, despite both 11 and 12 still being available, which would suggest that a first-team player is still to be added. Personally, I hope it is Duff, but Emerton could be a possibility. Especially now that Leeds, our principal rivals for his signature, have bought Barmby.

Aren't Man Utd interested in him as well?

Manchester United couldn't possibly afford Duff.

Of course, we are out buying Escude right now after Kenyon claimed we were done, so who knows?

duff is worth £15m MAX

there is no way Houllier is gonna part with £20m+ that Souness thinks it will take to buy him

it could be a player plus cash deal ...maybe £12m and 2/3 players

possibles include traore (who souness admires), berger and smicer

i would be dissapointed to see Traore leave..he has looked damn good in pre season

but what would that achieve??

bowyer could sign a pre contract agreement with another club from late December..for FREE (no transfer fee involved)

by the time El Tel talks to Lee in Jan..it would be too late!

methinks (middlesborough aside) Terry Vegetables has been out of league management for too long!

No thanks, we don't want any of your chaff for one of our best players.
Berger=Not been as good since that injury
Smicer=Much maligned at Anfield by being too lightweight.
Traore=Got enough central and left-sided players thank you.

Some people are starting to say he'll sign a new contract once the season starts. I hope so.

contracts mean nothing mate....ask rio ferdinand ;)

also beware...cos Duff's value will drop by £7m by the end of this season if he doesnt sign that new contract. At the end of next season i can see him going for £8/10m

and i dont think even Blackburn will keep a player like Duff at the cost of £7m a season ;)

another ploy u could adopt is instead of offering a new contract which he wont sign..just extend his current contract for a further year...so to cover your backs financially should Duff demand a transfer
