i can't stress enough how much i've been impressed with you all so far this year. it's too bad our boys in blue aren't bringing it as hard for the full 90 like y'all are.

We need to continue to get together with the Argentinians on chants. Alan, be stronger in your beats. At some points the drum is weak, which leads the group astray. The chants that the Argentinians do are all simple and loud. Our need to be the same, and even if it is one of our chants with a few more words to it we have to completely belt it out or we'll be overpowered by another one of their chants.
Someone needs to reach out to the Argentinians prior to the next game and talk to them about some of our specific chants. They are all so excited and in to the game, they don't seem to grasp the concept that some of our chants have a different beat than what they think. We'll be 10 times better if we can really get everyone together on nearly all of the chants.
Pregame was awesome. Having a keg is always a good thing, and it would be good if we could do it for most or all games.
I do not like the confetti all over the place after the game. Since some kid decided it would be a good idea to throw a couple of handfuls into my windows. Yeah, it was fun cleaning that out this morning.

Well that what u get for being drunk and laying down in your backseat with the doors open. Besides you are the fun "Uncle Ben" and you said that it was okay.
Overall the tailgate was great before and after the game. Running around like a mad man getting things for folks. Special thanks to Chris for being head gopher and running out to get more buns and plates.

I spoke with one of the guys after the game and asked that they bring some sheets with the words on them. He said he'd try. The melodies are easy and I feel like I can sing with about 75% of the ones they do. Just have no clue what the words are other than the Dale, Dale, Wizards chant.

and if you don't know the words, the beats are easy to clap to.

Part of the problem with people getting out of sync is that the section is so wide. At one point Spoon started one of the "repeat after me" chants from the back corner where he was and it ended up all jacked up. The people in the middle were repeating after Spoon, and then the people up front in the opposite corner were repeating after that middle group, so we ended up with 3 separate waves.

The second drummer was not as drunk this time :D and did a good job of adjusting to how we do the Ole Ole Ola differences. I think if people are just singing the melodies with da da da, we can make a lot of noise right now until we learn all the lyrics.
Also the team should know who some of the new guys are, and could probably get us in touch during the week. If we can get a couple of the new guys to come post on BS, then we're all set. This sounds like a good outreach job for some of the Cauldron leadership. We have a lot more spanish speakers than just Ockk in the section, so maybe we can recruit from within for a little help.
There's Cesar, a guy with glasses with a name I can't remember right now, but I've seen him at a bunch of tailgates and he was there last night as well. Not really related, but what's the name of the Wizards fan we always meet up with in Dallas who just goes crazy for 90 minutes. He's stationed in Texas somewhere (Tony?) We need to get him up here for a game ASAP. He's a blast.

IIRC, Tony is stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma.

The crowd was great and I had a blast. I think the Cauldron will grow at everygame, and to tell you the truth, i did see more college students attend the game which made a great atmosphere too.

Something else... we got people in the next section to stand with our "Stand up for the KC Wiz" chant... that was nice. If we can belt that out pretty good, I think that we can get more to stand next time.
-----
Robb Heineman was in the expensive seats down in front of us for the game, I recall him looking back when the flare was lit, but he didn't seem worried....
----
As already said, the Cauldron rocked.
Let's keep it up though... too many times we let chants just die away. Although that might be a product of not really know how many times we are gonna repeat stuff.
----
Our Drum (not directed at you Alan) - is something wrong with the drum? Do we need to have someone look at it? Does it need to be .. um...tightened?(is that the right word?) It just doesn't sound right.
----
Saying the Cauldron rocked earlier but ... there were still Large groups that weren't clapping or chanting but just standing there... I am not saying you have to jump the whole game, or bounce, or hop back and forth, but at least clap. Don't take this as a kind of criticism that means clap or get out, that's not it at all... I am taking itmore as maybe you all just don't know the songs yet (I hope :) )... but if you don't at least please try to clap or yell something... seeing the people moving(even just clapping) adds a LOT to the section.
----
I think the Argentine group and the most vocal Cauldron group need to be more in the middle of the section and let the others fill in around us... comments made earlier about there being 2 and 3 waves of a song going (of course, that sounds like crap , the positivie is that it was still noise). So, maybe we need to get in earlier? Or something, not really sure. More thinking out loud here.
----
Flares are cool... but, I don't know... illegal :) ... I know a few got some flare burns on their jerseys... i'd like to see a smoke bomb in our section *if* it's allowed... or maybe... dry ice to cause some smoke.. (I am not advocating doing anything that will get us in trouble though........)

Part of the problem is you need nautical flares, not road flares. 1. They're a lot brighter, 2. It's easier to make the slag go in one direction.

Last game I was talking about this with a few people. Considering the number of rain storms, heat, etc that the drum has been in, it's probably time to get new covers put on them.

Noted - hey Robert, can you ask about nautical flares? :-P

I thought the Cauldron was awesome.
When we do our chants we need to repeat them more than we have done in the past. Some sections on the edges of the wider Cauldron were just picking up on the chant when it would die off. Even if we have repeated a chant 4 or 5 times already, keep it going. It might seem "boring" to those in the middle, but you need to keep repeating it to build the noise level.
I have to say I did see a few "hard core" regulars not singing or clapping along at times. No names mentioned, but just because the chant is in Spanish doesn't mean you can't join in somehow. It will get better and better as long as the existing Cauldron works together with our new friends. :)

There were 2 kids next to me (immediately left of the drum) that stood there the whole game and never clapped or joined in on a single chant. WTF? Why are you in the Cauldron if you're going to stand there like a douche bag the whole game with your arms folded?

I noticed a LOT of those people and wondered the same thing. When and old fat guy like me can sing, clap and jump the whole game, the kids have no excuses. Of course I still have no voice today...but it was well worth it.
