Reading the recently updated FIFA "A" calendar, there are only 3 matches involving CONCACAF teams.

Jamacia v. India on August 29th and Sept 1st in England (Watford and Wolverhampton)

Canada v. Scotland on OCt 15th in Edinburgh.

CONCACAF doesn't make the matches....the individual FAs do. The Confeds only are involved as far as refs go...

don't forget the fact that all domestic leagues are in full swing, and the FAs don't want to waste time with useless friendlies...not that Canada knows anything about that...:)

In saying CONCACAF, i'm refering to the confederation and it's national FAs

Scotland found matchtime for us even though they would be in the middle of Euro 2004 qualifying. Days are set aside by FIFA for international matches. FAs shouldn't have a problem finding decent opponents.

Due to the world cup there is a lot of down time right now. Copa America isn't for another 2 years and the next Gold Cup isn't until next summer. I think you'll see a lot of friendlies this coming fall after the completion of the MLS and A-league seasons. Especially since just about every team will be in a rebuilding period.

The only venue in JA suitable for International football is out of service for the next 6 months so if Jamaica plays any friendlies more than likely it will be on the road.

I would say England, Miami, Toronto and the Tri State Area

respect

I doubt seeing matches in TO for the forseeable future.

That's _why_ they found time for you. Trying to get in a decent practice game.

Probably see a Mexico - USA friendly in December or January as the national sides begin to get back together for training. Probably a match that will take place in LA or San Diego. I know the US doesn't like playing latin american teams in so cal, but a potential of 60k or more fans may change their mind. $$$$$$$

Yeah they wanted to play a team they felt they had a chance against. :)

If you look at any of the Scotland boards on the net you'll notice they'd much rather play a team they have a chance against.

If what your saying is true, than the Scots must be screwed for Euro 2004.

As opposed to all those other Euros where Scotland is a top contender?

Will we (USA) ever get into Copa America again?

Cool, Thanks Sid, Do we always get invited and turn them down, or was that one time an experiment,we did pretty good the time we were in it.

USMNT team turned down the invites in 1997 and 1999 because the tourney is played in the summer and the powers that be did not want to lose and MLS players. The USMNT was not invited to participate in 2001.

That's disheartening. I can understand '97--already a lot of WC qualifying, too much missed time. In '99 though? Why on Earth did MLS allow so many players to go to the Confed Cup? I suppose at the time there was the impression that the Confed Cup could become something really special. I would have preferred Copa America, however.

Maybe CONCACAF actually could set up more friendlies, however. Perhaps, roughly a week before Copa America in 2004, they could set up a CONCACAF-CONMEBOL "challenge." It would be simple--they could just invite all ten CONMEBOL naitons up to CONCACAF for a series of firendlies:

Meixo vs Brazil
USA vs Argentina
Costa Rica vs Paraguay
Honduras vs Columbia
Jamaica vs Uruguay
Canada vs Ecuador
T & T vs Chile
Guatemala vs Peru
El Salvador vs Bolivia
Cuba vs Venezuela

Fun stuff--sort of a bragging rights thing in the Americas.
