I was thinking maybe USA v. Japan in Japan or USA v. England in the US or England. I have no idea about Japan's schedule, but I know England has Euro 2004 qualifying coming up, although the Scotts found their way around it.

That's disheartening. I can understand '97--already a lot of WC qualifying, too much missed time. In '99 though? Why on Earth did MLS allow so many players to go to the Confed Cup? I suppose at the time there was the impression that the Confed Cup could become something really special. I would have preferred Copa America, however.

Maybe CONCACAF actually could set up more friendlies, however. Perhaps, roughly a week before Copa America in 2004, they could set up a CONCACAF-CONMEBOL "challenge." It would be simple--they could just invite all ten CONMEBOL naitons up to CONCACAF for a series of firendlies:

Meixo vs Brazil
USA vs Argentina
Costa Rica vs Paraguay
Honduras vs Columbia
Jamaica vs Uruguay
Canada vs Ecuador
T & T vs Chile
Guatemala vs Peru
El Salvador vs Bolivia
Cuba vs Venezuela

Fun stuff--sort of a bragging rights thing in the Americas.

The CONMEBOL teams might be scared of injuries and Ecuador to Canada is a very long flight same as Argentina to USA.

These are all good points. The problem is they don't do anything toward furthering my insane plan.
