They have been the worst team for several years now but somehow managed to scrape survival. Finally they get what they deserve. Delighted.

How quickly and cruelly fate turned on my beloved Pars yesterday. One moment we're cruising along nicely with a 1-goal lead and St. Mirren are down 2-0. Then Motherwell rolls over like some pathetic ladies auxilliary squad (jerkoffs) and De Vries, who has been one of the better keepers in the SPL this season, lets in possibly the softest goal of his career.
Sincere congrats to St. Mirren, and of course, Motherwell can go off somewhere and hump themselves. Ultimately though, Dunfermline have no one but themselves to thank for once again waithing uintil the 11th hour to begin playing for keeps.
They had a good run in the Premiership this time around, peaking four or five years ago when Stevie Crawford and Craig Brewster were firing on all cylinders together, allowing the team to finish in the top half of the league. We also got several decent wins against both Old Firm sides in recent years.
Not sure how much of that there will to look forward to now, but we do have a Cup final to play in, and a trip to Europe . . . So things could be much worse.
Mon the DA!

Highly insightful stuff . . . and pure class. Maybe you should stick to your Scrubs quotes.

Are you denying that you have had the worst squad over recent years and have overachieved by staying up until now?

Who do you support?... Rangers or Celtic wow that's highly original and if you support anyone else in Scotland watch your step your time may come sooner than expected.

I'll acknowledge that we overachieved to an extent, but since there was always at least one team that performed worse, we squeaked by. But there were also two good, competetive years in there, and many quality wins against good sides (see my lengthier post). Lots to be proud of, there.
What annoys me about your "delighted" response is that in past years, when a team got relegated - such as Livi, for instance - I showed nothing but sympathy and support for their fans because I understand how difficult it is for a smaller team to be competetive in what has become of the more lopsided leagues in the world.
I half expect a few snarky, condescending and sanctimonious remarks from a few of the OF crew about our relegation, that is, if they choose to lower themseves to such. I'm just not clear on the source of joy from some of the other fans out there.
But hey, whatever makes you happy.

Livingston, which makes that entire post incorrect (unfortunately). It also means our Dunfermline friend better understands my posts. :D

my condolences... I've always had a soft spot for Livi.... I guess our relegation came a year too late for you.

At the end of the day, well, the end of the season, the table doesn't lie (unless it's the English Premier League and West Ham stay up!) so Dunfemline got their just deserts I'm afraid. Sorry you're down, if only it could have been Hibs, eh?!

Having seeing a lot of Dunfermline this year they deseved to go down. If they had played like they did at the end of the season I think they could have avodid relagation but you have being poor for 4/5 of the season. Good luck in division 1. It's impossible to get out of the league if you already know.

Speaking of which, what are the views on Stephen Kenny since he took over in the media/among fans?

Of courese I can't speak for all Pars fans, but speaking for myself and the majority of the fans I've heard from, Stephen has performed an amazing turnaround with a team that was going nowhere fast. The play is more inspired, the offense has reappeared, and the excitement has returned to East End Park.
Our run at the Cup has been impressive, including wins over Hibs, Jambos and Rangers. All we can do is hope for the best in the final.
Relegation is disappointing, to be sure. But that destiny was all but assured before Kenny took over the club. He's impressed me, that's for sure.

Thanks. There was a lot of interest here among eircom league fans as to how he would fare in a more high-profile league, even at a smaller club. In his time here he managed to take a small first division side into the premier division and the UEFA Cup (Longford Town), before taking over two big clubs in decline and threatened with relegation (Bohemians and Derry City) and leading Bohs to a championship and Derry to the runner-up spot twice, while winning cups and progressing through two qualifying rounds into the UEFA Cup proper against PSG. He's still only 36.

His credentials are impressive, and will only get better, I'm sure. He's actually so good that I'm afraid he may not stay with Dunfermline long enough to get us back up again. Hope I'm wrong.
I just noticed you're from Donegal, which is where my father's family comes from (I'm a Gallagher, like half of Donegal's population). I hope to see those shores again someday.
