View Full Version : Tevez to United?

Fergie recently announced that he has pinpointed 3 main transfer targets for the summer, one of which will be a striker. With Saha possibly out and United possibly sending West Ham back to the Championship is it possible United will make a swoop for Tevez? He had a rocky start but he's been carrying West Ham single handedly for the last few months. I'm salivating thinking of a strike partnership of Rooney and an ever growing Tevez up front. I'd rather him than a Torres or an Eto'o. Two guys that don't seem like they would adapt well to the English game. What do you guys think?

I think this belongs in the transfer thread.

Granted, it does involve a transfer per se. However, The transfer thread is 4 pages of nonsense and I was looking for some active discussion on this one topic. Hence the desire to begin a new thread. I realize that most message boards have certain ettiquette but I'm new and I didn't think it was an issue.

I've said before that I think Tevez is a class player, and I hope he stays in the Premiership, but I wouldn't actively persue his signing. Neither Tevez nor Rooney is at their best playing alone up top, and I suppose one of them would have to if he came. Therefore I'd rather a Torres or an Eto'o than Tevez, although it is possible that Tevez could move on a pretty discounted fee, maybe 10-15m, as compared to the latter two who've been recently quoted at £27m and £40m.
And Tevez being at a party doesn't sound like a concrete link to me.

Why would Tevez come at a knockdown price? He's owned by the Kia fella, the same con-man who was tarting him all over the league before finding the suckers at West Ham. I think Tevez's recent form will see his price sky rocket to very close to what he's actually worth. As long as he doesn't end up at Chelsea or Liverpool, it's OK, I guess.

Well, the bald fella keeps insisting Tevez is now registered fully as a West Ham player.

I would love to see him at Chelsea under Mourinho - probably the best place to waste his talent.

He'd fit in there better than Shevchenko.

They terminated that agreement apparently and now West Ham owns him. Liverpool bought Marscherano for peanuts, I don't see why United would be forced to pay extortianate prices fro Tevez.

West Ham weren't even playing Mascherano. Meanwhile, Tevez is probably the main reason the Hammers still have a shot at survival. West Ham won't sell their best player for peanuts.
Personally, I don't want anything to do with this sort of a shady deal. Given the FA's history with us, if we'd been in West Ham's place, they'd probably have relegated us immediately.

2 year loan deal with an option to buy. They didn't buy him, and that is why Liverpool were allowed to circumvent the rules on a player not being allowed to appear for more than 2 clubs within a FIFA season. (basically a full year).

So Kia has no ties to Tevez at all?
Just how much is that Icelandic guy worth, anyway?

I haven't hard any speculation of this. I was just drawing a conclusion because Tevez has been telling the media he stopped learning english because he's not sure if he'll be playing in England anymore. But he did say that the league is making him a better player and that he would love to stay. If West Ham get relegated on sunday I think that it would be well worth Fergie's time to give him a look. People keep talking about Torres and Eto'o but both of them are technical players playing in a technical, less physical league. I'd hate to see about 80 million USD spent on someone who could very well flop in a very tough, physical league. I don't think a lot of players coming to England from Italy and Spain fare really well in the Premiership. Granted there have been exceptions (I.E. Zola) but on the whole I think most of them have a very hard time adapting (I.E. Shevchenko).

I'm all for being very suspicious of anything related to Kia.

It is an interesting thought bringing Tevez to United considering that our attack isn't based on crossing to a big man but rather attacking at pace with tons of movement.
Makes you wander what teams would if this line up was coming at you:
Scholes---Carrick
Ronaldo-----Tevez------Giggs
Rooney

Rooney has improved, but that still doesn't play to his strengths. I wouldn't sacrifice Rooney for Tevez, especially with Rossi waiting in the wings.
