No, I'm not Joe Ranucci, and I'll willing drink beer at ten paces ;-). If the French women dig the kit (slightly vintage with the "Corbetts" sponsor logo)then all the better.

I will be there for USA vs. Brasil.
Took a look at the Ninkasi site, and the bar / club looks awesome. Since it is the near the stadium, would this not be one of the better places to meet pre-game ?

That seems to be something of the plan (for lack of a better word) at this point.

It's very possible that I will have two extra tickets for the US vs. Brasil game in case anyone is interested. I will know for sure by next Monday after I hear back from a work colleague whether or not he needs them. If you're interested, send me a PM ...

What's going on in the way of the huge flags, banners, etc.?
Also, is anyone bringing streamers/confetti/pyro?
I would think also that flags on poles wouldn't be too much of a problem in Europe, hope to see alot of those waving too.
I really hope our supporters make a good impression to show just how far we've come in the last 10-15 years.

Everyone has their own ideas about what songs we should sing at national team games. Please allow me to make a suggestion. The song, Over There, by George M. Cohan, would have tremendous significance if sung anywhere overseas, but especially in France. It was the fight song of World War I, and the song sung by American troops as they liberated Paris in World War II. All the older French know the song, because Cohan had it translated and the French troops sang it too.
Sachin and Luis Chavez got it going at the Argentina game a couple of times in Miami. Please consider singing the very simple chorus, not the full song…over there!
Over there, over there!
Send the word, send the word, over there!
That the Yanks are coming, the Yanks are coming,
The drums rum-tumming ev'rywhere!
So prepare, say a prayer, send the word, send the word to beware!
We'll be over, we're coming over,
And we won't come back 'til it's over Over There!

Flan,
How many people do we have for the tailgate? Where should we gather? I'm meeting up with ShotbyBalboa in Lyon and giving him a lift to St. Etienne... It'd be a kick if we could get enough for a small-sided game, as well.

I've heard back from around 10 people. I've been in touch with Captain Splarg too who's coming from Lyon as well. I'm gonna get in to St.Etienne around 3 or 4. We should meet up somewhere in St. Etienne so we can bring the cars in together.

Decisions, decisions... Remember, the 21st is "la Fete de Musique" in France and it is a HUGE party. It should be standing room only everywhere....

Flan,
I think I've got a full car to St. Etienne from Lyon -- four people: AShotByBalboa, Treetaliano and his wife, myself. I think I'd like to explore St. Etienne by foot for a few hours, so I imagine we'll be heading out of Lyon around noon.
Let's set up a plan on BigSoccer for the tailgate.
By the way, has anyone actually confirmed that there will be parking at the stadium? Might it make more sense to meet up in town and take mass transit to the stadium? Obviously, I think the sooner we etch things in stone, the better!
Regards,
Maverick

Yes there's parking at St.Etienne.
The stadium is a bit out of the city from what I understand. I was planning on parking at the stadium. I can give you a call when I get into the area...and we'll work it out from there.
Or there are plenty of neigborhood bars around the stadium if you want to stake one out, and send an SMS as to where you are.

I fly out this afternoon: British Airways out of Boston, getting into Heathrow about 5:15AM (ouch!) tomorrow morning, then getting my connecting flight (also on British Airways) to Lyon about 8:25. So if you see a lone soul walking around the terminal at Heathrow in khaki's and a vintage red France '98 U.S. jersey, pull me aside and introduce yourself.
As for St. Etienne. Right now the plan I'm sticking to is meeting up at the Louis XIV statue on Place Bellecour at 2:00PM, then heading to Gare Perrache to catch the train to St. Etienne, so we should probably be getting to the stadium around 4:30 or so. We'll probably take cabs from the station to the stadium, either that or the city tram system, Line 4 going straight to the stadium.
As indicated earlier I'm certainly up for a tailgate, and I'll bring whatever I can carry in terms of food, drink, etc.

Just arrived and am currently at an Internet kiosk in Terminal 1 at Heathrow. Lucked out and got an upgrade to Business Class.
Gonna grab some coffee and chill now.

Message from Speedcake in Lyon:
The FNAC mentioned by FranceBillet is the wrong one. He was directed to another one at Bellecour.
"It is close to the McDonalds that lies across from the tourist office."
Spread the word...

Update via Speedcake, who is waiting in line.
You need to bring along your confirmation number, passport and the card you ordered with.
Gah...
Edited to add:
He also said that queues form quickly, so get there early.
For some reason the ticket office only started handing the tickets out at 1:30pm. Speedcake waited in line for an hour despite being near the front of the queue, and apparently only a few people were let in at a time.
Still, he is now in possession of all tickets for the Lyon matches. :)
