Oh, and I've got it narrowed down to two... Newcastle United and Aston Villa. If I just look at the players on the team at the end of this season, it's Aston Villa by a lot. If I go with the other intagibles that got both teams here (history, underdog but not dog, up and coming, fan base, etc...), it's Newcastle United. Players change, however, so I'm leaning towards Newcastle. Especially here at the end of the season when the players will change before I really get to root for them.

look into the history of teams before you pick one.whoever you choose good luck and stick with them.........they are your team end of story.

but west ham had to win at manchester united today to stay in the EPL and they did with style........up the hammers beautifull.

Hello all. I am from the US and I am starting to become a fan of the EPL. One problem I am having is I have no team routing interest. Maybe it's an American thing, but games just aren't the same to watch and follow if your not really a fan of any one team. That's where the post comes in. Maybe you all can help me "pick" a team. I am a HUGE sports junkie and can tell you what I normally like in a team. I've always been a fan of the "underdog" type teams, and disliked the juggernauts, flashy, or big-market-I'll-buy-my-team teams like the Yankees, Lakers, or NY Rangers. I like blue collar, hard working, defensive oriented teams. I would say I like the kind of style Germany uses (up until the WC when they opened it up), but do not like the style Brazil uses. I have some Eastern European heritage, so a team that likes pick up players from Eastern Europe is good, too. It seems like the big 4 (Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal) wouldn't fit in the mold that I like. I also like tradition so some older, traditional teams would be good. So, who to route for? I have the "Fox Soccer Channel" here in the US, so I can watch a lot of games. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Root for Fulham like me...Clint Dempsey is a solid up and coming American on that team, now there is your reason to root for them. Mcbride is also on that team.

Everton is the undoubted choice for you, given what you've said.

38 years.......yeah whatever its still terrible.

The tradition big 6 were:
Man Utd
Arsenal
Spurs
Everton
Liverpool
Villa

Now its more of a big 4:
Man Utd
Arsenal
Liverpool
Chelsea

Newcastle have never been considered one of the big teams.

And you are a walking advertisement as to why people should avoid the "big 4"

Now please go back to squating over your mother dildo and wishing it was Ronaldo
bytheway is spot on. If you can't accept that I feel a bit sorry for you.

i think "slabbering" is an ancient term for 'squating over your mother dildo'

Well I wouldnt say MON is a rubbish manager.

But that could be a bias statement.

Id say go for Villa, but then again, that would be a bias statement.

Both Newcastle and and Villa are underdog teams. Its good to see you arent jumping on the ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal bandwagon like many people in the states.

Sweeten:

Nice to hear you've chosen to follow the English top flite - not the best football from a technical perspective (follow Spain and Italy for that, I guess), but definitely the most exciting league in world football. On top of that, the action is usually end to end, apart from watching Chelsea.

English football is by far and away the most chivalrous you will find. Generally, players and fans prefer it when players get straight back up after being fouled. You don't get this in most other nations in Europe, where what the English would call cheating is regarded as the bread-and-butter gameplan. Foreign players new to the Premiership make this realisation fairly quickly when even their own fans start booing them when they try it on - most of these players change their attitude - some bugger off to Spain.

My advice for you is to take a look at what matches you will be able to watch from your own country. I say this because there is not point being a Reading or Everton fan if Fox Soccer Channel, or whichever channel you use, only shows one of their games every six months. Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool (The Big Four) may be shown more often, which will heighten your enjoyment (that is, being able to follow them live week in, week out).

Another bit of advice is to choose carefully. Once the club is yours, it is yours for life.

Naturally, I would say that Blackburn is a wonderful club to support, but in all honesty, any club in the Prem would be great to support, just for the spectacle of watching the Prem. There is nothing wrong with Villa, and nothing wrong with Newcastle, so the choice is yours. Enjoy.

Oh, and Toon - shut up and write something constructive. Your arguments are based on mothers and dildos. Eventually, no one will listen to you if you carry on like a fool. Newcastle is a decent club with wonderfully loyal supporters, but they really haven't won enough to warrant the title of, "Big Club." They have a massive fan base, but no trophies. That's all the ManUre fan was saying. Grow up, please.

Hello all. I am from the US and I am starting to become a fan of the EPL. .

I suggest you support the Great American club, Liverpool FC.

http://www.bluekipper.com/assets/images/blubber/MICKY-MOUSE-CLUB.jpg

They have got a great underdog story in that their manager they recruited from a Hotel in the Costa Del Sol.

http://www.bluekipper.com/assets/images/blubber/spanish_waiter.jpg

Even one of their main strikers "Dirk Kuyt" was playing none-league football for some abscure foreign team not long ago and even starred in an American movie.

Plus they haven't won the English league for 17 years. Back then Everton were rich, and were champions too, it was THAT long ago. :-D

ok just quickly clearing this out..

keep watching the EPL you're bound to find a team that really excites you. In terms on underdog?..Liverpool FC so unpredictable..they can lose to Small teams and Can win Major games..

Liverpool is probably the Team you should go for.

Liverpool > Everton

simple as that

Who has More champions league cups..
Who has more Premier league cups..
who has more Fans..
Who is more likely to make it to a champions league final..
Liverpool

As for Everton, they rue the day that they were split and liverpool was formed, coz ever since then..Liverpool has achieved nothing but greatness..while everton going downhill.

Prove me wrong people..prove me wrong.
