I know the addition of a 13th team into the league necessitates an even more screwed up schedule than in the past ... and it certainly doesn't help that we don't have first dibs on dates at RFK. But having said that, isn't it a little strange that this weekend we will experience yet another bye week in what so far hasn't been that long of a season?
I'm just saying ...

season seemed a lot longer before this week (and the tie and the win).

I worry that we'll have to make up these games on the back end.

I was under the impression that this this schedule was created somewhat hoping that we would have advanced to the finals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
Last year we had huge fixture congestion early in the year b/c of our outside tournaments.
I think they left some room for us this year, which sadly we didn't end up needing.
What we've played:
04/03 - Tuesday @ CD Guadalajara
04/07 - Saturday @ Colorado Rapids
04/14 - Saturday Kansas City Wizards
04/21 - BYE
04/28 - Saturday @ Columbus Crew
05/03 - Thursday New England Revolution
05/06 - Sunday Chivas USA
05/12 - BYE
But if we had made it to the Champions Cup we would have played:
04/03 - Tuesday @ CD Guadalajara
04/07 - Saturday @ Colorado Rapids
04/14 - Saturday Kansas City Wizards
04/18 - Wednesday @ Pachuca CF
04/25 - Wednesday Pachuca CF
04/28 - Saturday @ Columbus Crew
05/03 - Thursday New England Revolution
05/06 - Sunday Chivas USA
05/12 - BYE
And we'd be begging for this bye week...

After all the beotching DC did last year with fixture congestion, damn right they gave us a break this year being in CCC.

We shouldn't be bitching at all about our schedule. We could be the travelling circus known as the LA Galaxy and only played three games six weeks into the schedule and have to play a majority of road games to end the season.

If we had a single table, promotion / relegation, and a pony for every MLS fan these bye weeks would cease to exist.

If we are really upset about this bye week why don't we put together a petition send it to MLS headquarters to demand that this not be a bye week. Why should Toronto FC fans have all of the fun?

Considering it gives us another week to both heal Fred's groin and acclimate him to the 4-4-2 we're now playing, I'll take it.
Not to mention Clyde's ankle. Honestly, this comes at a pretty good time.

I bet that bastard won't pass the ball to Freddy either. :D

A mixed blessing...team finally gets some points, would be nice to keep the momentum going...on the flip side, we do get to heal some knocks, like Fred.
At least our next game is against Toronto...should be a nice way to ease back into the MLS schedule. :D

MLS knew this would be a very busy week for me, personally, so they built in this bye weekend so I could finally get around to watching the replay of our Chivas USA game on Saturday :D

Ooooo. It's now official with a sticky. Genius.
This will be as useful, or useless (depending on your point of view) as NNR.
But I like it. The only things missing are a critter, a scapegoat, a noob, and a troll. On second thought, I guess it's missing everything.
Now unless something wacky happens with the club this week it's proving to be a good week to catch up on my bigmalardcarving.com threads.

The question is: How will DC United solve this problem of integrating around the Pole???
