I took a glance at the 10 page post game thread, but didn't see answer to this.
First I thought he was injured, but he came in the second half.
wha't up with that? using him as a super sub?

Soehn wanted to give him a bit of a rest. He played 90 minutes in the last 2 games. . .

It's all over the place, but basically 3 games in 8 days, and Kpene deserved some time.

0 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses in first four games. I figure coach was mixing things up to find what works, as he did by changing formation and benching Jaime game before that. Emilio's been more productive than Jaime, but still was a good idea to mix things up.

As I know Emilio isn't only one who played previous 2 full games vs Crew and NER? Olsen, Boswell, Nameoff?
It was important game after no win (3 losses) since the start of the season, and he's the best forward we got. Not the time to try different things benching the best forward we got IMO.
Benching Moreno would been understandable.
He must have shown some fatigue? Little bit worried.
3 games in 8 days, Don't many of the European players do that with all the Cup games, UEFA Cup, Champions League, etc...?

You're reading way too much into not very much.

Moreno returned to the lineup and was joined by rookie Guy-Roland Kpene, who had made a favorable impression in his debut as a reserve Thursday. In the first half, Kpene held the ball and turned effectively, making something out of nothing on a couple occasions.
"He shows a real maturity for a young kid," Soehn said. "Luciano just played two 90-minute games, so you factor everything, but more than anything, Guy deserved a shot."
Also, the idea seems to be to not let guys get fatigued, and give them the rest they'll need prior to hitting the wall.

Look at it this way, Jaime and Emilio basically split the amount of time on the field over the past 3 games. They both played 2 1/2 games. TS respects both of them.

I respect both of them, too. However what is also needed to be considered is that one is 28 and the other is 34? or is it 33?

Why didn't Emilio start?
It's because he won't pass the ball to Freddy. Duh.

1. Giving Emilio a break. Soehn has shown that he's serious about rotating players.
2. Wanted to give Kpene some PT for his work in practice (again, showing that if you do well in practice you earn PT in games) and for man management reasons, he had to start Moreno this match.
3. Emilio (after a great start) hasn't been as strong the past 2 matches. He's had no service and it's easy for a new striker then to fall into bad habits (not finishing runs, dropping back too deep).
4. Tactical concerns. Soehn started some people b/c it was Chivas and what he expected would work (or what he needed to counter). I'm guessing this means that he thought Kpene's speed would be a plus and Suarez would be able to neutralize Emilio's strengths in the air.

Looked right at Freddy and still passed the ball to Gomez. I think it's a respect thing.

BS, it's a conspiracy
Why should have had a thread asking why Soehn didn't start Freddy.

Soehn is really mixing it up early which I like. So far we've seen Moreno, Emilio, Erpen, Fred and Gros rotated through the bench. Once Simms is back to 100% I hope to see that rotation include Carroll and Olsen a bit more. Our defenders hopefully will also be rotated more once we sign someone new.
All this is a result of last year's late season burn out. If anything this shows that Soehn refuses to have this happen again. Playing guys like Moose, De Roux, Casal, McTavish and Kpene now will only help us later in the season when we start our US Open Cup and Superliga campaigns.

And let's face it. Soehn is a big Dyachenko fan--we'd have seen him if he'd have been healthy. And Wilson is just getting back from his knee injury--he'll start getting some PT soon I suspect.

Must have been tired...nothing here. He looked great in the Champions Cup and a guy doesn't fall of the wagon so quickly. He'll be fine and will be starting/scoring soon enough. We just need to slow down and remember who we are! We're United and will win the 2007 season.
NY sucks and will blow us soon enough...just like it always been.

We have offensive depth, lets use it.
