I know it was touched on lightly in the summer transfers thread, but given Istanbul, just thought this one might deserve it's own topic.

It's sad. He was a legend, one day, and the memory that cemented him as such will stay with all of us forever. But in a world of "what have you done for me lately?" Duds has been a dud. I do wish him the best, though, wherever he decides to continue his career.

He will never walk alone.

I will always remember Istanbul -- the double save on Shevchenko and the PKs. Indeed, he'll never walk alone.

I was going to start up this one- Jerzy will forever live in our hearts for Istanbul. From the man himself......

It is with a heavy heart that Jerzy Dudek will leave the club in the summer, and the Pole has a little bit of unfinished business before he departs.

"I have 40,000 thank-yous to say, so it will take me a while," the 34-year-old told LFC Magazine.

"It would be nice to play in the last game against Charlton. I would get to walk around the pitch and take it all in. I could hear the fans singing again. I don't know if it will be possible, it's up to the manager when he picks the team.

They better give him the start vs Charlton (if he's healthy) so he can say good bye to the crowd...he certainly made his share of mistakes @ Anfield but we will never forget Istanbul.

From being a little kid I always had an image of Grobalar(sp?) and his jelly legs in the shoot out. Although it was an effective impression by Jerzy, it
will be the Sheva double save that I'll remember most. Don't think I've ever seen a save that felt so much like a wonder goal. It wasn't so much relief, it was more like HAVE IT! GET IN!

Yes, Jerzy made his mistakes, some of them costly, but I too will remember Istanbul fondly.

My two friends who were ACM fans watched the final with me and were laughing the entire time until the second half. They turned white as a bed sheet when dudek made the double save. They chuckled when they saw the jelly legs in the net, that was until Serginho blasted over the net. They left without saying a word as I jumped up and down as Gerrard lifted the trophy.

I really hope Jerzy gets a run against Charlton it would be only fitting. I think it's great that he stated he could never play against Liverpool, therefore he would leave the prmiership.

Indeed, he will never walk alone.

He was amazing in Istanbul. We all knew he would be replaced, but for one glorious night he was a hero. The double-save against Sheva in extra time was almost divine intervention; he never should have saved those. Then his miraculous performance in the PK's.

His mistakes have been frustrating but no one will remember him with anything but fondness for his heroics that night.

I too hope he gets the run-out against Charlton.

Rafa knows whats right and he's very in tune with the supporters. Dudek will get the start against Charlton I'm sure of it.

He deserves a proper farewell! His performance in Istambul assured him a place in football history.

never walk alone TPK
