Anyone have an idea how much money we are due for our successes this term?

PL Champeeens

FA Cup finalists

CL semis

how much is all that worth?

With regard to serving the debt, how much do people reckon will be used from this money?

If we win the FA cup, it will be about 2.5 million pounds; subtract a million if we don't win. TV rights for the FA cup ammount to roughly 1 million pounds, excluding the semi final and final; i have no clue how much we get for that.

isn't cl semifinals like 50+ million pounds alone? the winner of the cl gets close to 70 million pounds and the runner up was in the low 60's range. not sure about the fa cup or epl revenue split.

the thing is the prize money was like an additional 40 million euros, so when you ask about the moeny it includes other things than jsut prize moeny and might be variable on gate receipts and othe things. so I guess there might be no hard figure

I don't know what the amounts are but its safe to say that United will show a big profit for this fiscal year, which I believe ends on July 31. It will be nice if at least some of this money goes back into the team.

will there be a public financial statement, since the club is no longer publicly traded?

No, there will just be some kind of announcement about revenues and profits.

I have been thinking about it since I woke up (with a hangover) the prize money and revenue for finishing first next season with the new tv deal may mean we're going to spend a great deal to try and make winning this thing again a reality.

The CL money and gate is a massive bonus we couldn't possibly have planned for, so it's going to be interesting to see how it's all used.

Those clowns better be servicing the debt as best they can, but keeping us competitive must also be paramount I think.

Fergie said he wants 3 signings this summer, I'm certain they are 'big' buys and not the 'little' ones like Park, Vidic, so I'm wondering where that money is supposed to come from. Even if we sell in part to buy it'll take a sizeable chunk of change to acquire 3 'big' £3 signings.

Here is a link to an article on BBC regarding the 2005/06 season.

Revenues and profits should be way up. We didn't even mention the higher capacity of OT.

Regardless of the profits, I don't think we'll have more than £25-30 mln. available to us. That might be just enough for 1 major purchase.

Fergie has said he has 3 targets he wants here this summer. I'm quite positive they're supposed to be our 'final pieces' combined with the returning kids. That means sizeable expenditure and he seems hellbent on getting Hargreaves  which is £17m or more alone. I doubt the other two combined would come out at £13m

I expect the other two to be a LW and a striker, those are expensive positions to get quality in. Even with some sales it'd take a chunk to get top quality in.

Well if the LW is Bale, thats another £8 to £10m on top of Hargreaves £17m. Then figure £15m to £20m for a striker. Of the people we have been linked with lately we might be able to get Bent for the lower number if Charlton go down, Berbatov would cost £20m+, and I'm not sure what Fergie thinks of Owen, but he is suppossed to have a pretty low buy out clause (£12 to £13m I think).

I would think we are talking around £45m. With sizable profits and the sale of Saha, I could see it happening.

Dont be too quick to judge the effect Hargreaves could have on us. I'm sure there were better midfielders to be had than Carrick, but look at how he improved us.

I just hope we get our business done early. Hopefully the bids are already going out.

Hargreaves seems a cert after the long saga. No point in even thinking about players like De Rossi. So thats £17m to £20m already spent.

If the striker is Quagliarella then he could be cheaper than a lot of the names that have been thrown around. A much bigger risk though. Sampdoria said we already made an offer. He could cost £12m maybe??

I wonder if Fergie is happy with the LB situation? Simpson, Evans and Pique will give us depth in the rest of the defence, but LB was our undoing in big games this season, like Arsenal away and Milan away.

I think there may be some substance to all the rumours about Heinze leaving, and we may look for someone else to compete with Evra. How about selling Saha to Lyon in part payment for Eric Abidal? Lyon said we enquired about him last Summer.

I would not want us to risk £10m on Gareth Bale. If we want an attacking player to play on the left them maybe Nani is what we will go after. I'm not sure if he is what we need, but quality wingers are pretty hard to find.
Maybe he would be another £12m?

So we could quickly spend £40-50m on players. I don't think we'll see many players leaving as Fergie will want to bump up the squad. Maybe just Heinze and Saha.

That's already a big outlay on players. Maybe the Glazers will think acceptable after not spending anything (net) last year.

Actually, before we signed Carrick I was on here in every transfer thread saying we should go in for he and Parker, so I don't agree there was a better midfielder of his type for us as I'd already identified him for that role.

I do however think there are far better options than Hargreaves to be sought after. But Fergie has a vision and he wants the player, fair enough. It just sickens me to see the price and the quality of the player compared to others who could be had or enquired about.

There are, for cheaper as well. Like M. Diarra or Mavuba or maybe Muntari. But you know Sir Alex wont go for those. You know he'll overspend on that one guy that he really wants.....No point in getting mad anymore, he does it all the time.

Won't those three be playing in the African Nations cup next season? Can't think why he'd want them then.

I think this argument will come up every odd year's summer..

I don't agree that Fergie should not follow African talent because of their International duties.

Well, (possible) £30m budget + (possible) sale of Heinze and/or Saha would make it around £40m, and depending on who we are planning to go after, that might be enough to get 3 players, 5 players, or (for example, in De Rossi's case) just 1.
