Well, I'm doing this Media Studies exam next week, and I have to produce a front page(only) of a Hip-Hop and RnB magazine. I thought I'll take a few suggestions from you people to get a variety of opinions. Chip-in and post any suggestions you might have about the
--Name of the Magazine (Which will appeal to people who like Hip Hop & RnB)
--Feature article (................ditto......................)
--Front Cover Image (Whose picture do you think I should use)
--Other articles I can put in....
Any suggestions you can give will be really appreciated....
Just post something, even if its something simple/small/obvious...
Thanks:)

For the cover, I'd put Chamillionare, he isnt too commercial and a lot of people like him at the same time, and to be honest, I think he is one of the few rappers that talks sence. Not that I know anything about hip-hop n RnB anyway.
But what would be really cool and interesting to YOU or soccer fans, is mentioning Clint Dempsey, the American player who plays fro Fulham. He is also a rapper. You should look into that.

The thing is I have draw the front cover in the exam, but I'm allowed to prepare for it....I'm quite good at art, but getting the likeness of Chamillionare might be a bit of a problem, anyway I'll look into it....And what article do you propose should I use for Chamillionare?
Yea....Good Idea about Clint Dempsey as well...
Thanks for your views...

I don't listen to much Hip-Hop/RnB nowadays, prefering rock instead.
I'd recommend Lupe Fiasco, which is the only rapper I listen to nowadays. At least he doesn't rap about how much money he has, how many cars he has, what he does at a club...etc.

Jay-Z, the legend himself.
Chamillionaire is decent, but nothing to call home about.
Lupe Fiasco is nice, I listen to him alot, however you can't top the mogul himself.
I'd do Jay-Z or Pharrell, which both are my favorites. Pharrell gives you a twist because he does rock with n.e.r.d, r&b, hip hop and he produces beats with his group neptunes.

How about R. Kelly, Akon or Just Doc Dre? He is going to be releasing his new album name "Detox" soon.
I'm not so much into Jay-Z. I dont like the fact that he bites other rapper so much but is given so much credit. He uses Biggie & 2pac's lyrics too much.

Are there any image you guys can provide which'll suit the FRONT COVER of the Magazine?
Along with the artists, what article can I link them with....Something interesting, that you'll like to read and might consider buying in the newsagents? Make up some interesting 'Article Titles'. It doesn't have to be real, I'll just have to put the title of the article, so have a go...
What name can I use for the magazine? I haven't come up with any yet which sounds good :o
And thanks everyone for your suggestions!! ;)

R.Kelly = sex predator, who although is an R&B genius, has too many personality flaws.
Akon = the same as above, just with 3 wives. He just recently got in trouble in Trindad as well.
Doctor Dre = a legend but..... meh.
Jay-Z is the Hip Hop genius. Many hate him because of his success and use lame excuses to bash him. However who doesn't uses other peoples styles? Everybody who performs (rock, rap, r&b, etc..) have all been "mentored" and have all rubbed off the style of their own mentor.
Jay-Z's just happens to be B.I.G.
Why don't all of you hate on Chamillionare, Lil Wayne, T.I, etc...
There styles are basically carbon copies of Jay-Z. They're all credited well... so... don't hate.

Magazine name: Sound
Artist: Jay-Z and Pharrell
Concept: Hip Hop meets Alternative Rock.
Article titles:
1. Jay-Z the "prodigy" early beginnings.
- Jay-Z comes out with first album, "Reasonable Doubt" in 1996, which is dubbed one of the best of all times. He then released 7 albums for the next 7 year, all being classics.
2. Pharrell early start with n.e.r.d
- n.e.r.d make their first album in 2001, "In Search of" which is first released in the UK, then brought to the U.S. It is a hit and is followed by 3 years later with "Fly or Die" which also does well but didn't appeal to the Hip Hop community because of it's alternative rock style.
3. Pharrell and n.e.r.d, start beat making group neptunes
- While n.e.r.d was in motion, Pharrell and Chad Hugo (a member of n.e.r.d) broke off to do "beats and music" of their own. They also dropped a album "The neptunes presents - The Clones", which was the first time Jay-Z and Pharrell got to work together. On a song called "Frontin" (one of my favs). This was Pharrell's first attempt at mixing alternative rock and hip hop. This was the first real successful attempt of late to mix Hip Hop/R&B and rock and was the CATALYST which has influenced the movement to this day IMO.
4. Jay-Z brings drops the Blueprint, the new King of Hip Hop, later retires.
- Jay-Z releases "The Blueprint" in 2001, get gets rave reviews, and has put him on the "throne" to be the "King of Hip Hop". He followed it up with "The best of both worlds" album mixing Hip Hop with R&B with R.Kelly, but due to R.Kelly being a wack job the tour failed. He then came back again with a good album "The Blueprint 2" in 2002. Things got tiring for Jay-Z so he announced he would retire after finishing his "last" album in 2003 "The Black Album".
5. Jay-Z comes back to Hip Hop, but not as a rapper.
- Jay-Z comes back, however not to rap, but to manage. He is made President of Def Jams where he has been very successful. Bring Rhianna, Akon, neo, etc.. to light and helping the company immensly. He buys out his original company Roc-A-Fella and has become one of the biggest moguls, under only Russel Simmons.
6. Pharrell steps out for first solo, Hip Hop album, Jay-Z and Pharrell make "Young Girl"
- Pharrell, comes out on a solo effort, exploring the worlds of Hip Hop, Alternative and R&B. He effectively mixes them in his album "In My Mind" which is released late 2005. In this album he and Jay-Z work again to popularize the mixture of Alternative, R&B and Hip Hop in the song "Young Girl". After this venture, in 2006 he also helped Lupe Fiasco (Daydreamin), Robin Thicke (The Evolution of Robin Thicke), Ludacris (Release Therapy), Pop Chop (Cut up or Shut up).
- Pharrell has worked with Jessica Simpson to Britney Spears. From alternative rock to heavy rock. From R&B to Hip hop and so on.
7. Jay-Z makes comeback album "Kingdom Come", Pharrell some the tracks.
- Jay-Z finally comes out of retirement with "Kingdom Come", Pharrell produces many of the tracks.
To Summarize: Jay-Z a rapper, which is known to some as the greatest ever, was simply a rapper. While Pharrell and alternative music maker, used his group to help influence and mix with Hip Hop. It wasn't taken too well and there wasn't much of a change, until Jay-Z began working with Pharrell which led to the rise in more mainstream rapping style. Rock was mixed with Hip Hop and R&B and done so effectively.
This helped broaden an otherwise limited genre helping others like John Mayor and Kanye West to enter and make their own stamp. basically opening the way for others.

Lupe Fiasco / KanYe West / Pharrell/N.E.R.D are my favourite rappers ATM.
Respect for Dre/Eminem :o
Never rated Jay-Z personally, but respect for him though.
