Bigsoccer won't let me post this as a news link, so here it is:

http://biz.yahoo.com/rb/070504/youtube_lawsuit.html?.v=5

The lawsuit charges that YouTube deliberately encourages massive copyright infringement on its Web site to generate public attention and boost traffic. This has resulted in the loss of valuable content, the complaint said.
"Defendants, which own and operate the Web site YouTube.com, have knowingly misappropriated and exploited this valuable property for their own gain without payment or license to the owners of the intellectual property," the lawsuit said.

I rely on Youtube to catch goals and other football highlights. I hope the lawsuit fails.

its a shame!!! in israel you cant even see highlights of the games in free. the primier leauge transmitted in payment for every week in private channels. and they forbid the sport channel to show highlight of the games.

only the rich pepole see the EPL. the same they do even with the israeli leauge.

now i will not even see highlights in the internet.

oh, this sucks.

I wouldn't have expected any less though, especailly if they charge a license for showing the league schedule, images of footballers in prem kits, and just about anything else they can claim to own rights to.

Toon³ - they might be preparing for a EPL internet channel with subscription, PPV clips or something

I'm sure football highlights enter the public domain after 24 hours.
