What about "El emperador" Julio Cesar Baldivieso...?

Gatti is playing for Real Potosi and has been really really well. He was called up to the national team. He seems to be back to his old self.

J.C. Baldivieso was on Bolivar's roster, but looked slow during the Copa Libertadores.

you guys know your stuff...

How does Botero go to being in San Lorenzo to not even playing in a low-bottom Division 1 team in Bolivia?

Have his skills gone away? Or is he asking for too much $?

Botero is a mystery wrapped in an enigma clouded by confusion. A once promising career turned to crap for exactly what reason no one knows.

he never got the chance to shine at San Lorenzo, he wasnt taken seriously. When he had regular play at Pumas he was one of the leading scores in the league and on the team. If he doesnt get regular playing time then he will not show anything, its hard to adjust in argentina when your on the bench pretty much for most of the game. Because of this he never excelled in Argentina, and now i believe he is asking too much and teams are not willing to risk it.

Frankly from what i heard he was let go from pumas for drinking or so it said in the papers. I think he had problems with drinking and partying and didnt show much professionalism thats why he was let go from pumas and had problems with san lorenzo.

He simply has had bad advice. When he was playing for Bolivar and leading the list of goal scorers, he was presented with the opportunity to play for Boca Juniors. Bolivar's infamous "Dirijentes" were offered more money to send them to Mexico. Remember that Cuellar is still battling in court for selling him for $2M but only reporting $700K. Mexico is the great league that it is because they protect their national players and if a foreign player wants to make it, they not only have to have talent, but they have to be exceptionally sure of themselves. Not a typical character trait of our players.
Botero has never played the position he used to play while at Bolivar: Striker (puntero neto). If he has to think what to do with the ball, he is useless. The few shining moments at Pumas was when their striker Marioni was sent back to his owner team in Spain and Botero was put back in his natural position.
This guy is shy, does not drink and is from very humble beginnings. People take advantage of him all the time.

whatever happened to the FBF's Centro de Alto Rendimiento. I remember they made a big deal about how it was supposed to tranform not just our futbol but sports in general, there was big hoopla with the architecture contest for it and all this optimism about our futbol & sports development.

Finally some news about the infamous Centro de Alto Rendimiento(CAR) in la 'bamba.

http://www.conmebol.com/articulos_ver.jsp?id=62605&slangab=S

Great interview with FBF capo Carlos Chavez, if you've got some time you should read it. Couple of things that stood out to me.

-CAR is completed "Ya.

Great insight into his perspective about the altitude issue, and it's obvious that he realizes that our lack of a youth system is whats keeping us from progressing, large part of the interview is regarding or youth set up and trying to improve it.

Interesting FYI apparently he lived his teenage yrs and twenties in Germany and represented Germany in some sort of Euro University tournament.

Interesting.... Our country does have alot of German Immigrants, i have an aunt thats german, and in the 60s didnt Blacutt play for Bayern Munchen?

With that said, hopefully they can stablize and make a youth league to spot out these great street kids i remember playing pick up games with when going back to bolivia.

We have the talent and kids out there to be something good, but we need to find a way to get them to grow, learn about how body fat effects them, a good diet, and a good and healthy workout routine for youths in bolivia that want to become pro players sooner or later.

Mr Jose Alfredo Castillo made a appearence on Sports Center (ESPN Deportes) this morning. His gol was ranked #1 out of all the goals scored yesterday. Hopefully the kid continues to do well in Brasil.

While we're on Castillo, just as impresive was the thrid goal which he kept alive with teh taquito desde el piso, very nice.

Last week Lorgio Alvarez scored a beauty for his team as well. This year more so than many others we're hearing of Bolivia players doing well. Let's keep this going.

He looks very fit, too.
I heard he lost 20 pounds and gained tons of muscle mass. He can be really good if he stays fit and out of trouble. He is confident bordering on cocky, which is something our other players seem to lack.

Castillo scores again for Atletico, his is the first. If he continues his recent run, we might have to start a thread on him, and maybe on a different team.

Can someone tell me how I can post the actual video instead of the link?

You put [youtube]----[\youtube] that, and eveyrthing after the equal sign in between the youtube boxes, and the slash has to be reversed on the last box i did.

Fuego, I can fix his link but I can't view it here at work because YouTube is blocked. Did it work?
