Arsène Wenger has been fined £2,500 and "severely censured" by the Football Association for accusing an assistant referee of lying at the Carling Cup final.

Wenger had denied a charge of improper conduct and/or bringing the game into disrepute for the remarks he made after his side's bad-tempered defeat to Chelsea on February 23. But an FA disciplinary commission today found against him, highlighting his use of the word "lie" when describing the assistant's intervention in the the sending-off of Emmanuel Adebayor.

Would Dein have made a difference to this if he was still with the club?

No, the fine wasn't going to be impacted by Dein.

My question is why does Wenger get fined for calling one ref a liar but Mourinho can claim that all refs cheat to help Man Utd./harm Chelsea and that's no big deal.

I would think that the term "bringing the game into disrepute" would apply more to calling the whole league corrupt than calling one guy a liar.

What Wenger said was true. What Jose said was 1/2 true.;) Either way the FA are morons.
