Please don't turn on this team like some of you seem to be doing... it was a fun journey. Our aim was the PL and we're very close to getting to it now.

Don't forget that! :)

Agreed. Had the boys gone out earlier it might not have as much sting in it. It just seems so painful with the final in our sights.

Nah, I haven't seen that. Most people are being very sensible, of course it's disappointing to crash out having come this far, but you can't demand a treble out of any team, let alone one so unexperienced at the top level.

Great Euro run, took a great Milan team to end it, class all round.

I wrote a lengthy post with player ratings and the sort, and I couldn't post it because the thread was closed. (It was mostly in jest.)

Shit, I hate to see this. But to be honest with you guys, everytime I heard the T word bandied about, I honestly in my head heard the word "Gloryhunter". Dude, we weren't even supposed to make it this far. Some people really need to get a grip. The CL is not the be-all and end-all of our season. If you think it is, go support Liverpool.

I'm proud that we made it this far. It showed we have a good groundwork to build upon. We're still missing a piece in order to challenge in Europe, and that was exhibited today. We need a Gattuso-type player. He bossed us. That is all. Oh well. Lets look towards the weekend. We still have a battle to win.

Gloryhunters, the lot of yous. Treble, pfft.

It's hard to feel this way right after a loss, but let's just look at what this squad has done in Europe this season. We've beaten quality sides, had great European moments at OT, continued progressing through serious injury crises, and still managed to make it to the semis. We did well. The fact that our guys didn't play up to their abilities hurts, but we are still a good squad.

We'll brush off and give it another go next season.

No I'm proud of how they played to make it to the second last match of the competition, just a little sad. I'll cheer up this saturday night when we get stuck into citeh.

Precisely, if this game doesn't fire our lads up for the derby nothing will.

I'm sure they'll be throwing some Italian pastries at our players and fans, the c*nts.

I was angry about the performance but I can't be disappointed in the European season we had this year. It was a bad way to go out, but with injuries and such, it was never going to be easy.

exactly, what my feelings are.
if you told any decent united fan at the start of the season, that we'd be top of the league, in the FA cup final, and knocked out in the semis of the champions league, in may. im sure many of us would have bit you're hand off...

He's alright. Nothing special, but not bad either. He's a victim of circumstance really. The fall guy for many and the scapegoat to some. His first season when they won the title created a false image of him, or at least, one that people identified him by.

If you expect him to do anything special on a regularly against the very best then I think you've misread the player. He's an opportunist and he's smart...so when the rest of a midfield has the advantage he'll pick his moments and pop up with a goal...but an opportunist needs a situation to take advantage of...without this setting, he'll look ordinary more often than not. And that's the folly of many England supporters absolutely panning him 'for not delivering' for England..put him in a midfield that gives him the chance to exploit windows of opportunity and he'll be exactly the same player he is for Chelsea. Put him in a side where he's 'on his own' and has to make his own way, and he's going to look like half the player.

Jose made his entire attack around Lampard and it's only since he switched the focal point to Drogba that Lampard looked out of sorts, it's not a coincidence. Put lampard in an AM role in a 4-3-3 where he can pick and chose his moments and he's good. Outside of that, he's OK but will never give you what he does when he can lurk around the final thrid area taking shot after shot.

I've always felt Joe Cole was the most important of the English players at Chelsea and it is he they've missed the most this season outside of Cech and Gallas. Cole's running and ability to drag men away from the middle (thus freeing up Lampard) is another factor in what made Lampard the player he was percieved to be by many. Lampard hasn't changed...everything around him has.
