Something got me thinking recently. Obviously the majority of people on this forum own more than one pair of boots, and I thought this would make an interesting topic to discuss as I haven't seen anyone ask before. My questions to you guys are therefore the following.

1) How many pairs of boots do you own that you use on a FAIRLY REGULAR BASIS (i.e. more than once every six years when you find them in your loft).

2) How many different pairs of boots have you worn for competitive matches and/or training this season?

3) Do you rotate your boots for matchday, and if so how do you determine what pair you wear? (Other than the weather and pitch condition)

4) And finally, do you feel wearing the same pair of boots in training and on matchday makes much of a difference to how well you play in them, i.e. gets you even more used to them, or is it really a non-issue to you?

This should be a good discussion.

My answers are as follows by the way.

1) I have ten pairs of boots I use on a regular basis, and a few others I just don't use anymore and have kept for sentimental reasons.

2) I have worn eight different pairs of boots for training and matchday this season (August 2006 - next week).

3) I do rotate my boots for matchday. I take three pairs of boots to the ground (for example if the weather is wet I take two SG pairs and one FG pair in case the pitch is still hard) and I warm up in the first pair I put in my bag before I leave the house (sort of routine for me, I've done it for ten years near enough!) However, if they don't feel right in the warm up, I will change to a completely different pair, for example if I have my v1's on I will change into Vapors.

4) I personally don't think that wearing boots in training and on matchday gets me used to them any more quickly, I think it all comes down to how comfortable they feel on the day more than anything else.

1) I have four pairs of boots that I use on a regular basis
2) Same 4 above
3) Preds SG for wet/soft ground, VaporsIII FG are my new match boots, Total90III FG for practice, and some italian brand shoes that I seldomly wear to a match(a little tight but wonderful touch).
4) I usually follow my little boot line up in competitive games~ But in pick up games I just wear whatever I feel like! :)

So pretty much for you, you wear boots depending on the ground, as opposed to what feels most comfortable on the day?

It mostly depends on the ground for me~ but then there are days when I just wear whatever I feel like.
When I feel like wearing something, it becomes "comfortable" for me... it's weird.

Well yeah, that's what I'm like. What I was thinking was for people who have larger collections, is this more of an issue.

*shrug*
I only have... 6 pairs of boots, including two for indoor and turf.
So I don't have many to rotate too~ haha
Looking to get the legends soon tho~ How are the R10's? I went to the store to check them out, the leather feels good but dun think they are good to play in...

I have a massive collection but I have used just one pair of boots this whole season - my Puma Esito II. I have worn them for every practice and every match so far since January and they are the only boots that fit me perfectly. Unfortunately they are falling apart now. On the upside, it will soon be raining and muddy in the next few weeks, meaning I will be able to use my V1's regularly, that will soon be arriving in the post.

1) 4 Pair that I use regularly

2) 6 Pair. (Puma King Exec FG, Absolute CL FG, Absolute Rugby, Absolute B/S/S FG, Absolute Blackout FG, Puma King Exec TT)

3) Other than weather/pitch, not really. See below.

4) I only wear Absolutes, apart from my turfs(Puma King Execs), but I train in a pair of Black/Silver/Sun, and wear either my Rugbys or Blackouts for games, Execs if the pitch is really hard or we're on turf.

I can't really tell the difference between my training and match boots because they're the same boot just different colorways.

I generally bring all 4 pair to games since you never know when you'll blow out a boot and it's good to have a backup pair of boots.

It's nice to have a pair of training boots because I don't really worry about cleaning them or anything, apart from shoving some newspaper in them if they're really wet. I don't like to train in SGs just because there is a higher injury risk to my teammates.

Not tried the R10's on personally. But there are two reviews here (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10319654&postcount=214) and here (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10324028&postcount=216).

Excuse me here as i dont have all the proper boot names down, but i use 2 pair of boots, one pair is a cheaper version of the older Legends (i.e what Fabregas wears) and my gameday boot are my proper expensive Legends (whatever the top model are called).

Training boots are black with white insignia, the gameday boots are the white with black insignia. Works pretty well for me, they are FG boots and it doesnt really matter to my style of play if i use them in the wet or dry, unless its preseason when grounds are hard and i play in my indoor shoes.

1.) 7 pairs of boots on a regular basis.

2.) 7 pairs, I wear them all... but i do have one pair that havent been touched and wont be.

3.) Switch out depending on conditions, whatever I warm up in is usually what ill play in..... just whatever it happens to be that day is what I wear.

4.) I dont think what you use in matchdays/gamedays makes a huge difference, I think you'll play the same. With todays materials, its about the fit, not the boot in my opinion.

You use studs on astroturf and you're still alive?

I can understand on fieldturf, but on astroturf...

Nowadays, I always play on turf. I usually wear only 1 pair of shoes till they fall to pieces, now i have Air Zoom Control 1, they're very good despite being synth. Before I had Secutors, worst shoes I ever had

well the copas are only short rubber studs so they don't cause any problems, to me or the astroturf

It should be a problem for your ankles, not for the groundsman...

To each his own :p
