View Full Version : The Problem With Arsenal

I am a Chelsea fan, but a football fan moreover. There, thats done and dusted.
Now, here is my take on the problem at Arsenal. Wenger has developed a great skill in finding young foreign talent. Cesc, Denilson, Diaby, Djorou, Clichy, and on and on. These youngsters are all capable of great things as Cesc has proven. These days it is common for people to say that Arsenal are in some sort of transitional, or rebuilding phase. I dont dispute that one bit, because it certainly looks that way to me. However, thats what it was last year and i believe that it will be the same way next year, and perhaps a few after that. I believe that this skill Wenger has, is also his poison. Its great to seek out fresh young talent and display it for the world to see, but its too much of a trend at Arsenal now. I mean, look at Flamini!!! He is on his way out!
Instead of focusing on winning games it seems Wenger is using the squad as a developmental team. It looks to me like he is trying to play 20 players on the pitch at once. What it boils down to, is something of an overload of talent. Next year he needs to focus on ONE primary squad. And yes i know, youve had injuries...but lets face it...Henry and Llun are nearing the end anyway.
I believe Walcott, Van Persie, Cesc, Rosicky, Toure, Eboue and Denilson should be a big part of your future. And you folks should pray that Baptista stays although i dont believe he will.
Now, let me go rid my mind of Arsenal thoughts, and let you Gooners have your say on Wengers issue.

WTF ?
Flamini is on his way out because we have better players. So what ? We're not stopping him from leaving.
Do you think if we hadn't had so many injuries, we'd be playing so many players?
Henry, despite playing with injuries got 10 goals in 16 starts. Trust me, just watch him fly next season...
Obviously those players you mention will be a big part of our future. That's a given. Baptista is not vital to our side, if you think he is, you've clearly not been watching him, or know very little about football.
I think you need to concentrate on how many more players Roman will buy in the summer that Jose doesn't want.

I tend to agree that it is an overload of young talent with too little maturity or experience in the squad, aswell as too much of a focus on the future, but when you look at our squad you will see that we many quality players.

Wenger develops our players, makes them into quality players, and what does Chelsea do....buy, buy, buy. Wenger can make one of our player 2x better than your stupid chelsea players, and Wenger can do it without spending 30 mill pound, and our player are like 6-7 yr old younger than urs...ARsenal will own chelsea, they will b f*cked

Do you know your 'team' has cost daddy warbucks over £300 million?
as a football fan do you consider this good for the game?

While I respect the poster's attempt to discuss this so called issue, the original post really shows lack of thought or understanding behind the final product of success, which is obviously deemed most important. A Chelsea fan criticising too much youth development really is a bad topic of conversation.

Blue Cel, I respect your tone and view. I disagree with a fair bit of it, but at least you presented your ideas in a straightforward way.
But when I got to the part about praying for Baptista to stay....

For someone who supports a team that took 50 years to win another league title, i dont think he can criticise how Arsenal & Wenger go about getting success because we obiviously get more of it.

I believe the children are our future.....Teach them well and let them lead the way.......Show them all the beauty they possess inside.......Give them a sense of pride to make it easier

a) Why does the trophy pic have a pound sign over just one of the Premiership trophies? Nevermind, I don't need to care that much.
b) Agreed, the original author, while trying to be sincere, lost the plot when suggesting we should pray Baptista remains. Perhaps that's his humorous stab at making sure Arsenal remain a weaker side...
c) There's no such thing as too much talent or skill, even on the young side. It's possible to have too many egos making it tough to keep the talent happy, but impossible to have too much talent, period.
Thus Arsenal's problems lie within taking the talent available and, apparently, producing a consistently potent offense that can prosper for spells without Henry and RvP. Do that and they're fine.

pretty sure if a Gooner posted a "The Problem with Chelsea" thread on the Chelski board it would be closed within 5 minutes.

I can't take anyone talking about our problems seriously when their recipe for success is:
1 part mediocre
Add £400m of sugar daddy money
Beat vigorously until a thick paste emerges.

I think the problem with Arsenal is that we don't have enough English players!

Blue Celery is goin 2 rue the day he started this thread!! I can sort of see what he is trying 2 say (except the Baptista bit?!?) but, IT WAS ALWAYS GOING TO CAUSE OFFENCE TO THE MAJORITY!!
maybe i'm bitter because of their success at the moment - maybe he's jealous because he knows ours is coming and he wanted to stir things?!?
and that, just probably, abramovich will get bored 1 day, piss off and leaves the blues in tatters!!!
By the way, I hope our success starts Sunday and carries right through to this time next year :D

Getting player development tips from a Chelsea fan is like getting a modesty speech from Mourinho.
After your master tires of his toys (or Putin leaves office and the next guy decides to prosecute), let us know how you plan of living a 300 million quid lifestlye on your new 50 million quid allowance. Until then, leave planning to those who live within their means.
