Not yet, he'd be riding the bench. and he needs to be playing, when he first started in Salamanca he scored alot, he was even running for Pichichi, Salamanca possibly could've been promoted with Vela and Braulios help, unfortunately an injury kept him out for about 1 1/2 and his team was hitting rock bottom, he's now back and is scoring, I'd say wait another season and he'll be more mature and possibly ready.

He is a wonderful striker, super quick and with great technique. He is also very young and looks like a possible future world class forward;)

I doubt he'd start, but i'd like to see him in the squad next year. If he's not good enough, loan him to another English team. If he's gonna play for us eventually, its better that he learn his trade here.

I don't want a Mexican on my team.

Don't get me wrong; Mexicans in general are a fantastic people; they're very polite. Unfortunately, their footballers seem to be scum with absolutely no class.

The only being I've known named Sam was my dog. I'm surprised that a dog can type.

Generalizations probably aren't a good idea. You might want to give specific examples of why you write off a large group.

How about every match between the US and Mexico ever? Have you ever watched one?

Fine, you want examples? How about the Mexican keeper (I've forgotten his name) attempting to slide tackle Eddie Johnson after another player scored? I believe Landycakes scored, and as Eddie Johnson ran after him to celebrate, the keeper attempted to slide tackle him from behind, unprovoked.

Another example? How about Rafael Marquez inserting his elbow into McBride's eye, so that McBride's (who is better than any Mexican player there is) eye became as large as a softball? (By the way, Marquez has so little class it's not funny)

Also, the Mexicans refuse to shake hands after every single one of these matches (typically because they lose).

No, it's not every Mexican player that's classless; there's just too much of a percentage of them to be ignored.

Thanks for the examples. There are huge numbers of US fans that feel the same about the current and past Mexican teams.

Not that many would immediately say they don't want a talent like Vela who has never played for the senior team. He doesn't have a reputation for dirty play and left his country at the age of 16 (I think). He is more likely to have the style and attitude of the Spanish first and second leagues, where he has trained and played for the last 16 months.

Salamanca seems to want to keep him for another year, and I think that's likely to happen. Salamanca seems to be a club we're developing a good relationship with, and I wouldn't be surprised to see more Arsenal youngsters head that way, a la Birmingham.

The kid is amazing, good pace and can finish, It would be my preference for him to go on loan to another English team to get more experience before coming to Arsenal.

Downside is that his childhood dream is to play for Real Madrid but well have to see what happens, its my understanding he wouldnt be available to come to England till after next season due to visa restrictions etc.

LOL @ not wanting a person on your team based on nationality, is there a KKK
Arsenal America chapter!

I'd describe him as speedy and fiery, but that's pretty limited, based on what I've seen. We were having a discussion on the Loan Watch thread last week about him after he got his first red card.

Vela is #9, Salamanca is in orange.

1:48 he's dropped in the box
1:36 he's dropped again, opponent gets red card
:42 blows a chance
:33 crosses
:10 slide tackle that led to the red card

He's Arsenal owned and whether you like it or not he'll be there sooner or later, hopefully sooner, now if you're so annoyed by this you could just change teams:D ... Or not... and buy yourself a nice Carlitos Vela jersey:D

Like if US players are so enthusiastic in shaking hands with them also.

US players are classless as well. Lets not forget how Donovan urinated on the field in Guadalajara, talk about having class.

But forget about that.

Vela's good footballing skills cannot be denied, though.

He could become a really good option for Arsenal, but I wouldn't want him heading to Arsenal just yet, where he will have very little chance of playing and would not develop properly. His best option is to stay one more season with Salamanca.

Let's be honest here the Mexican players are notorious for being trash on the field. Their fans also throw bags or urine and sh** at US players. If you ever watch a Mexican team play don't be surprised to see some sort of diving, cheating, theatrics and the like. However the same can be said about many other countries as well.

If the kid is good enough I do not care what nationality the player is. That is just dumb to discriminate against a player because of his nationality.

If Vela ever becomes good enough to play for Arsenal I will cheer him without reserve. My venemous and witty insults will be reserved for when he comes to Crew Stadium for a 2-0 spanking in a WCQ, and for all other 2-0 beatings at the hands of the US.

Brought to you by 2-0, the official score of the US vs Mexico.
