...gives hope to short, unathletic, poor-tackling white people that, someday, they too might be football greats.

There are no amount of threads that can convey all Scholes has done for us. Simple as that.

Absolutely. However, key word is "has done."

He's a class player. Too bad next year will be the beginning of him being fazed out at United.

Scholes has had a brilliant season, I'd readily say one of his best ever. Not as prolific a goalscorer as he used to be but now THE playmaker for the team.

Onwards and upwards for Scholesey.

Shouldn't the Lampard phase-out have begun last year  ?

WHat do you think is going to happen when United sign Hargreaves? They're going to put Carrick on the bench and play Scholes? No, Scholes will play every so often and soon it'll be Carrick and Hargreaves in the midfield, and Scholes as a sub and soon after that, out. It's not a bash on Scholes, whom I think is quality, but merely common sense.

Well, if they try to play Hargreaves and Carrick together, they'll realize they need a bit more ginger. Then Hargreaves and Carrick will have to wait their turns.

*my worst fear is the 4-5-1 with Scholes playing just behind the striker, with Hargreaves and Carrick in the central midfield. I guarantee this will happen occasionally during European away dates - and that's fine. But if it happens at home in the EPL - I'll cry.

Injured Scholes sent home from Far East

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes could miss the start of the season after the club confirmed he would undergo an exploratory knee operation which could keep him out for up to a month.

Scholes picked up a knock to his knee during his side's pre-season tour to Asia and headed home to Manchester five days early while his team-mates ran in six unanswered goals against Shenzhen.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson told MUTV: 'Paul fell on his knee in the last game. We've sent him home for arthroscopy to see what kind of damage there is.

'We don't think it's serious but it could keep him out for three weeks or a month.'

let's hope that's all it is... :(

What worries me is that nothing concrete has been said about the injury. You'll remember that the word on Park was originally exploratory surgery, which turned into this ridiculous 7 month lay off. So let's hope 1 month is it.
