Saw this through Arseblog...

Henry commenting on Spurs managing to get a draw with us.

"What makes me laugh is the way Tottenham always celebrate whenever they get a draw against us,"

"I would like to remind them that once again they have not made the Champions League. So I was amazed to see their reaction at the full-time whistle."

"I had to look twice at the score on the TV because I thought they had won it the way they were celebrating."

It was the same when we won the league there in 2004. They equalised to make it 2-2 that day and when I saw Taricco celebrate so much that he injured himself, I said to him 'you do realise we only needed a point and now we are celebrating the title on your ground."

Nice to see him stirring it, hey, maybe henry is a gooner after all Rick ;)

I love it, Henry is such a smart guy, he knows exactly what to say to make the fans (like me) happy. I honestly think he wants to play out his career for the club, not only because its in his heart, but also because he knows the long term value of having the love and respect of the Arsenal fans worldwide. He's smart enought to know that if he left, he might lose alot of the goodwill he's gained over his career. It seems to me that happens alot, when fans think your loyalty is divided, and you say the wrong things in the media, it can tarnish your reputation and place in the fans heart quickly and easily. I'm thinking of the comparison between Tony Adams and David O'Leary, TA is still a legend for Arsenal, while it seems that O'Leary is almost forgotten by alot of fans. Am i wrong about that?

Not at all. O'Leary WAS considered a legend, but his views towards the club hav bin so negative since he left, that i hate him now. I remember him complaining when TH14 stuck a quick free kick in2 the villa net a few yrs bk, even tho Ian Harte had dun it 2 us the season b4 - while DOL was the Leeds gaffer. His moaning and bitching is annoyin, like Brain Marwood - who rarely says nice things about Arsenal.

Ur rite about the other stuff 2. Henry knows what heez doin, and 1 of the best things about his personality is he knows what to say and when to say it. He leaves us all starry eyed and happy and wanting him 2 stay 4eva!!!

Agree about O'Leary. I had high hopes that he'd be an Arsenal manager some day. Those hopes soon faded.
Personally I don't think Marwood is that bad...

Hey Joe hows it going? Welcome to the boards. Everything you say there is correct in my opinion. O'Leary really didn't do himself any favours with some of his comments, but at the same time maybe they were needed for his personal position. He was manager of Leeds and Villa and had to stick up for where he was and not stick up for where he had been. He was wrong to moan about it but all I am saying is that he had to stick up for his club whilst he was there.

Could you do me a favour though? Cut down on the text language please, it is hard to read and more importantly we have to show these Yank's how to spell or they will be forgetting to put the U in colour and arranging dates in the wrong order forever. :p :D

For the record, today's date is 30/04/2007 not 04/30/2007, that just makes no logical sense! :D

I'm with antifan about Henry's smartness. However, he's always had it for the spurs supporters. And hasn't resisted any opportunity to dig it right in. Remember his pitch length goal celebration in front of the Spurs stands a few years ago and the way he went for the stands again the last time we played them at Highbury after scoring IMHO one of the technically best goals I've ever seen.

Here's some more on Henry's brilliance:

Arsenal captain Thierry Henry admits he knows Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wanted to sign him.

Within a few weeks of buying Chelsea, Abramovich tried to buy Henry for £50million. The Frenchman said: "Yes, I knew that. And it felt great.

"But I am an Arsenal player and that was that. And every time I scored against Chelsea after that, I kissed the badge to show where my heart lies."

We are lucky to have such a devoted player for us. I'm sure the Barca switch was tempting, but I am happy and proud that Henry will finish his career in the red and white.

There is a big difference between an Arsenal player who is a GOONER, and an Arsenal player. Just because someone signs for us does not make them a Gooner, only certain players have understood the ideals of the fans, for example the rivalry with Spurs. Too many players who were apparently Gooners lost sight of what that means (looking in the direction of the money grabbing cvnt).

That's amazing stuff from Henry. I really hope he finishes his career as a Gooner.

A little OT:
Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has been named by Time magazine (http://breakingnews.iol.ie/sport/story.asp?j=179261180&p=y79z6y76x&n=179261789&t=soccer) as one of the world’s 100 most influential people .. The US-based magazine first published their list in 1999 and each year honour individuals divided into five groups – Leaders and Revolutionaries, Builders and Titans, Artists and Entertainers, Scientists and Thinkers, and Heroes and Icons.
