If you ask me we need to always be pushing the envelope a little bit.
The first games at Victoria Street are gonna be problematic. Security is going to be all uppity and tight and are going to try to crack down on traditional supporter activities.
The key here is to be persistent not beligerant. Keep doing what you are going to do. This may mean a few confrontations and some folks maybe even getting tossed. Keep coming back game after game and eventually the rent-a-cops and management will get used to you.
On a side note. We had a similar problem with flag poles up in Seattle for the Nats game and this is the solution I came up with:
You know those "Swiffer" poles? They unscrew into 4 pieces that can basically be held in one hand. But it is long enough to hold a 3x5 flag. Break down the pole, carry the flag "with no pole" past security and then re-assemble once you are inside. Worked like a charm!

Tom, as a former Cougar I can assure you we did plenty of taunting from the stands...
We just had to be a bit creative in the ways we did it...

no offense, but this article seems to blow things a little out of proportion, or making it a little too over-dramatic. If you want to do stuff then do it, you'll be the one who gets kicked out if they get pissed and if you're willing to do it then go right ahead. personally i enjoy the latin/italian type of support where the supporters are specticles themselves but that's just me. just fraggin do it and whatever happens, happens. nothin to cry about.

If you want to get stuff done but aren't with big enough numbers.... than do it together.
PS drums suck :D

I tried to bring a 2-liter bottle of Coke and Kahlua into the US-Uruguay friendly last year by putting it under my shirt. Yes, the bottle of rum I drank in the parking lot meant that I was drunk enough to think that would actually work (and that Coke and Kahlua tasted good).
you nut. drink the kahlua straight and mix the rum and the coke.
if you REALLY want to get in trouble bring some empty ziplock bags in too.

OK the game came and went and I saw on TV pretty much everything this thread says was banned at the stadium, except for smoke bombs. Were there any problems?

Nope. No arrests, no cops giving people crap, nothing at all. I was taking pictures behind the goal on the same end as Sam's Army (the end NZ attacked the first half and the US attacked the second).

I mixed the first cup of rum with Coke, then I tried it with Glacier Freeze (light blue) Gatorade and I was hooked :D And had to have something to do with the Coke...
MetroTard, admittedly I wasn't really looking for them but I didn't see a single cop or security guard (unless you count the friendly elderly yellow-shirted ushers) inside the stadium itself. We probably could've gotten away with whatever we wanted to (altho pyro would've been a bad idea since the entire section was blanketed in little strips of paper).

Yeah there was zero security once you got inside the stadium. Amusingly enough the cops did make an appearance during the kickers warm-up so they must have been somewhere nearby but In a small an area as we were in and as far away from the field as we were, there really would have been little reason to do more (flares, smoke bombs) than what we did.

I think Metro's question was referring to the Galaxy game...
Or perhaps not...

Good news, folks. The security staff at this weekend's game (and they should be the same ones for any US games) were very understanding of supporter activities and were not at all uppity or tight.
The Riot Squad and the Galaxians both stood for most of the game, drums and drumsticks were abundant inside the stadium. Even the smaller groups like the Barra Azul were able to get all their gear in, drums, drumsticks, etc. Even tailgating was allowed, though Galaxy staff had warned fans that the local cops might get uptight about it. It was pretty obvious we were drinking beer and other spirits and the security and cops very clearly looked the other way. The one thing we saw shut down were open-flame bbq's, but we're not sure if that's a long term thing or just for the opener.

So everyone on BigSoccer got worked up into a lather about something that turned into a non-issue?
That's never happened here before.
