Just found this on youtube, it happens to be the finest game of football I have ever been to see in person. Tranmere at the time bottom of the Championship (2nd level), while Southampton were in the top 10 of the EPL.

i was going to post something about our (spurs') equally embarrasing* 4-3 collapse to man city in the cup a bit later, with comment to how glen hoddle's tactical acumen could lead to a second such humiliation. but it turns out that hoddle had already gone, and it was david pleat who led us to the particalar debacle.

of course, the common denominator of dean richards does remain.


*moreso, actually, as city was down to 10 men when we conceded four to lose.

Shame the magic of the cup doesn't extend to the later rounds.
