Yesterday, in a match, I made a fast run through the centre of the midfield from the half way line to latch onto a FK taken from our own box...
I'm a very left-footed player, but as I was sprinting full pace the ball came high over my right shoulder and I just took the ball down with my right foot in my stride and it just dropped dead onto the ground without moving.
My second touch was a bit too heavy, and the keeper jussst beat me to the ball in a 50-50 ball, but I think I could put that down to the emotion of the moment!
I honestly never thought I would control a ball like that in my whole life - Bergkamp would have been impressed.
My friend, who is a big Bergkamp fan, said that behind he just saw the ball go over my shoulder and then it was just gone...and then he only saw it again.
My coach and teammates say that it was the most amazing moments of control they've ever seen in a match.
My question is have you ever had an amost 'godly' moment like this, and what was it?

This was quite a few years ago... I was playing right wing and inside the penalty area about 12 yards in front of the post and a rebound fell to my feet. The area was packed with players as this was right after a corner kick. They were all moving toward my side of the goal and I had no shot at the near post. I left-footed a sharply in-curving ball about 4 foot off the ground around the outside of the crowd hooking it into the goal at the far post.

In a match yesterday, got a ball played out to me on the wing. It was bouncing so instead of taking it down I popped it over the head of the defender running toward me, chested the ball down onto my foot, cut back to my left to beat another defender, and slid a perfectly weighted though ball into the box with my left foot through another defender's legs.
Then the forward making the run scuffed his shot...:(
Next time I'm shooting!
Probably not my best first touch ever but the best series of touches I've ever had. I've never beaten 3 defenders with 4 touches before, mostly because I play as an outside back but got thrown up on the wing yesterday for my pace.

I was playing forward for my club in one of our last matches of the summer. I had my back against my defender, facing away from goal looking to receive a pass and knock it on after my teammate made a run through. Instead, I looked to my left and saw there was enough room, so as the ball came in to my right foot I began turning to my left and flicked the ball over and around the defender- and volleyed it with my right foot as it was coming down to the ground.
Same game, I did a variation of a maradonna- you kind of wrap your foot around the ball and spin with it(really easy to do in indoors). As I did that, I managed to lose the ball off my foot before I full spun through, but I happened to meg the defender and put a perfect through ball to my teammate.
after that game I got a lot of "where has that been all year?" and "sick, man" because they didn't realize I was naturally a forward/center mid, as I was put at leftback all year(and did that well enough to believe I was at that position my whole life).

Yeah, I get you, I did that on Friday's match - The ball came a bit behind as I had a defender on my shoulder on the edge of the box, so I pulled it around like you say, through his legs, and then blasted it over ther bar!

Goal keeper had a HUGE punt - he drove one and I worked to get under it. I took it with my thigh and dropped it right at my feet. I was pleased as punch until the Ref blew a $#@!ing Handball! He said he didn't see it but I must have handled to have it drop so clean. ARRGH!

Same kind of thing has happened to me several times in recreational games on getting a perfectly timed run on a through ball catching the defense napping. The ref figured I had to be offside in order to beat them so bad. That is what happens when you don't have ARs.

last season my team was down by 1 goal late in the match. i got a long pass in the air from a defender and chest passed a perfect through ball to a team mate and they scored.
Prior to that i had tried a chest pass only once and had failed miserably. Since then i have tried chest passes in all of my games.

Best touch ever was also my best goal ever.I have to admit it was a fluke, but at the time I played it off as if I always did that. I was playing on the right wing in High School. I was being marked by a guy that was seriously a foot taller than me, our captain who was playing in the center went up for a header, bounced it in my direction. I had my back towards the guy marking me, as the ball is landing perfectly towards my feet I kicked it up and over my head and the head of the tall doofus marking me. While the tall dork was frozen on his back heels I spun myself around to face towards their goal. the ball took a high bounce so I headed it down towards the ground and as it took one bounce I let it rip form just outside the box. The ball went in top right corner, no way that goalie had a chance. Complete fluke and I could never do that again but I was a hero that day and for the rest of the game the big tall doofus kept his distance and was eventually subbed.

i once hit a goal from a full 35 yards. made a crunching tackle in the center circle, took a few strides, and decided to let it rip. it started off low and straight down the middle, then all of a sudden it decided it wanted to rise directly into the upper corner. still can't believe it to this day.
first day of training frosh year of college, we were playing 7v7. us 7 freshmen were playing together and were up against the 7 returning starters. i was on the eighteen, with my back to goal, with a 2 time all-american defending me. i pull an henry (before he did it against ManU) and flip the ball up with my left foot, shield the defender, swivel, and hit the volley for a goal to the far post.
later in the season, I am playing with my back to goal again, around 25 yards out. ball is played quite firmly into my feet. the defender and i are 1v1, with no cover behind him. i give a little flick to the ball, pop it up with back spin and role off the defender. the ball moves right around the outside of the defender and perfectly into my path. i was so amazed it worked I was confused for a second. then i decided it would be smart to hit it as hard as possible from 18 yds, right off the crossbar, and it rebounded about 35 yds out. karma.

Well, ok I have several moments..but one stands out in particular..
Two players were challenging for a 50/50 ball. The ball bounced about to the right of the two players, about a foot, no more than that. So I went for it, approached the ball with my back, and did a perfectly executed Puyol/Zidane/Marcelle Roulette,...whatever that move called. Basically a very fancy drag out of a very tight situation. Kind of like Puyol in the clip below, except there were two players in the picture. Just to elaborate, I ended up with my back turned to both players, I completely closed the lid on the defender, he could not tackle legally.

Oooo, that's quite hard for me. I have had to learn to have a fantastic first touch because I play for a professional youth team. I would say when the ball was sent over my head on the right wing and I controlled it to run down the wing at pace, which then I crossed the ball in and out 6'2 striker headed it in.

I was playing Striker (different from my usual midfield possesion), the left mid gave a strong kick, tryign to give me a run. The ball was going to land right infront of the 18, I spotted it perfect and took a small skip in the air bounced it of my right foot directly infront of me, it bounced once before I shot...unfortunately the keeper was able to get his hands on the shot :(
Wow, complements on those fk's in your sig, amazing. How did you get so good at those?!

About a month ago i had a discussion with a friend about Ronaldo's stepovers and the effects of them etc etc, end result was a laugh and a promise i would attempt them in the next match.
Looked impressive as hell but a capable defender probably would have been able to strip me of the ball, basically it was 4 step overs and a through ball that resulted in a goal.
I think the finish complimented my stupid little trick, it he had missed his shot or the pass intercepted id have looked pretty damn stupid. But i was very happy with the through ball.

A couple of weeks ago I saw a Wayne Rooney goal. He received the ball with a defender in his back, but just before the ball got there turned a bit to the left then tapped his ball with the outside of his right past the defender while turning quickly to the right and leaving the guy stunned. I honestly did the exact same a day later and it got me a goal. I doubt I can ever do it again that well, but this was simply the perfect imitation.

a one touch shoot from 45m out that hit the crossbar. I'm not really a long-distance shooter, but that surprised everyone INCLUDING me.

mines is actually a non-touch. my teammate passed me the ball while i posted up against the last defender, i dummied the ball, the ball went through the last defender's legs, i ran around him and got it, then chipped the keeper for a goal.

hmm....my touch with the chest has improved, for whatever reason, dramatically over the past year. So much so that I can now control long high balls with it rather well and drop them down to whichever foot I want for a volley...
which usually fails miserably, but for just one second, I get everyone watching thinking:
'no way is he gonna...'
and indeed, in no way am I gonna... :D
btw...a few months ago, I used that scorpion thingy (you know...the Roberto Carlos one) effectively for the first time. I've used it before, but only when there was no one left in goal and just to take the piss a little. This time, I got a very nice little through ball, dribbled towards an open goal (mind you, not an actual goal, just in the park) the last defender came in to try and cover the goal from my left. I faked a shot so he slid himself in front of the goal, and when he went down (and did indeed block the entire goal) I took it. Then I walked away from the pitch because no way was I ever going to top that :D
