Hello,
I am having some problems with the reverse cross. When ever I try to do it, the ball only goes 10 feet in front of me. I don't understand. I try the reverse cross with my front part of the toe, and sometimes it does come out to about 10 feet max. Using the laces sometimes gets me 7 feet. And sometimes when I do it, it doesn't even go up in the air... How does Maradona and Cristiano Ronaldo do it?

NOTE: I want to do the reverse cross because I'm right footed and I have a untrained left foot.

1. its called rabona

2. try running at the ball perpendicular to where you want to hit it. Turn and swing when you meet the ball.

3. i think ur watching too much of cristiano ronaldo....hahaha.......practise a lot if you want to perform it in a game. personally i used one or two times but not as a cross, but to cut the ball through the defence in the middle of the field. The pass that i made had the ball on the ground.

Good info! Well now I know what its official name is now. Thanks alot. I do notice that when Maradona does the Rabona, he hits it as hard as he can and goes under the ball. But I do notice that when before he actuall makes contact with the left foot, the right foot goes off the ground... Hmmm... Practice makes perfect I suppose. Thanks anyways. :D

Have any clue how hard that is for even a great player to do and air that ball under presure.

Forget that move that is for Maradona and maybe one or two others.

If you think it is going to be easier to do this well with your right foot rather than learning to play with your left foot, you are sorely mistaken.

nicely said.....why not just use your left foot.

The "untrained left foot" is what is catching everyone's eye. Its like you are getting an advanced university degree for your right foot while your left foot is still in kindergarten.

I don't fault you for wanting to improve your right foot. Whatever is fun for you, do it. But it doesn't cost much to get a basic education for your left foot too.

i always wonder why a player like c. ronaldo does the rabona when he has a strong left foot...

the thing is, the rabona is a quick and unexpected move. if u use ur left foot it will take some time to swing the ball and direct it. Also the rabona is performed in an ackward angel, so defenders hesitate before they stick their legs out to block the move.

i agree with u that u need to first get a strong left leg before going on to these types of advance moves.

Well I practiced all day and I can get it about 7 feet up in the air and about 20ft in distance. Not to bad. But I had to really focus when doing la robona.

just work on your left foot man. when you're in a match, what if you're in shooting postition? you can't possibly expect to shoot on net like that as well. And the amount of times you're going to have the opportunity to successfully do it isn't great.
