i just heard something about that, i think its about time CRUZ AZUL participates in these tournaments. But id rather win the CCC and go to World Cup of Clubs than a south american tourney to be robbed at the last minute.

You know what to me that World Cup of clubs is one of the most OVERATED tournaments out there!!! I mean seriously some teams have to win just 4, 5 games to make it that far, some dont even care to bring on all their stars. Others like Internacional last year although they won the title were missing a bunch of key players from their Libertadores title becase they were already playing for other clubs. Etc. Etc. Etc.

I think winning that title honestly doesnt make you the BEST team in the world and LOSING like America did last year in that tourny also does not make them the worst team in the world.

I give more weight to winning a legitimate title such as Libertadores or Sudamericana. And who says you are going to be robbed on the last minute? Sure we've had some really messed up officiating against us in the history of these events but the Cruz Azul game against Boca in 2001 came down to not executing the penalty kicks. Same thing happened to Pumas in the sudamericana against Boca but look at Pachuca! they won it on the field and made no excuses.

Please somebody tell me that at the end of this tournament Billy is going to get rid of that pendejo Mizrahi, we had touched rock bottom already, we went today and hide inside the bunker against Santos, If we were to play like that in a CONMEBOL tournament....cant think of the embarrasement

The way this team is playing (a nada) we are better off not playing any important tournaments. Mizrahi and half these players have to go.It is ridiculous
what became of this team. De equipo grande ya solo la fama

Thats the business of the Brazilian, selling players. Besides most teams who participate in post-league tournaments show up with a different team that actually qualified for that tourney. And even though World Cup of Clubs is yet to be a prestigous tourney, it has the possibility to become one. I believe once they start rotating hosts nations and opening the tourney to more entries then it would become a better tourney. Not to mention the success of the World Cup of Clubs will have a direct impact on Concacaf Champions Cup. Now Mexican clubs have a reason to try to win the CCC where as before they rarely cared about winning, and yet still won.

Well usually when you win you dont bring up any excuses. Besides most tournaments are not actual reflections of who is best, but its the only fair way to measure success. For example, Cucutla of Colombia and Caracas of Venezuala both advaned to the knock out rounds, without disrespecting the teams, i believe Inter of Brazil, who didnt make it to the next round, is probably a better team than them. However, rules are rules and right now the Brazilians are out. I have no problems and i acknowledge that SA tourneys are better than NA tourneys. But Mexico is still in NA and until SA accepts Mexico as an equal in their tourney, Mexico will be measure with a different stick because of the "invited" label.

Very true! looks like the same thing is happening to los Argentinos slowly but surely. Soon they will just live from their past even though they believe they are the greatest.

although the topic has changed from CRUZ AZUL's chance of Copa SudAmericana, i agree that we (CRUZ AZUL) are living in a guilded-era. A complete administrative overhaul, starting with Guillermo Alvarez, is necessary. The team has been one of the most consistent when it comes to league points, but the post-season has been dreadful!

well I for one wish we could play in the Libertadores again or even the Sudamericana. These type of tournaments can be tiring but can also help lift your spirits in the local league if you do well.

Definately! I mean As an Example you look back at how bad Chivas was doing at one point in our liga but ever since that Libertadores run and that trashing they handed Boca of 4-0 lifted their spitirts and the entire team gained alot of confidence not to mention players individually such as Maza, Reynoso and others who were really strugling at the time grew so much from those games On and from that point on they have been as consisten as any team in our League!

Any post-league tourney is good, even if it is in S. America. Something needs to happen quick before they lose a new generation of possible fans.
