not sure how long this is, im neither jumping for joy or cursing the board for giving him a contract. but it is nice having a local boy who supports the club and came through the youth system. lets hope he doesnt get too big for his shoes and end up like cashley.

p.s who would have been the person negotiating the contract now that D.D is gone.

OK, well I'll do the jumping for both of us. He really did play well this year (and I was not particularly impressed in previous years) but I'm hoping he'll continue to play well and develop and then we can send Eboue packing.

I'm happy about this. He really improved this year, and proved that he is a very capable squad player. I don't think he will ever be world class, but you have to have capable replacements, like Hoyte, to be successful.

To be honest man, I don't think Hoyte will ever reach Eboue's offensive danger. He doesn't have the pace and the ball control skills that Eboue has. I also think Eboue will be much stronger next season and will prove his worth. I'm also hoping he'll stop his once in a while stupid behavior/diving.

Having said that, Hoyte might keep improving and become a very solid defensive player (Lauren like). Anyway we shall see.

i prefer hoyte to eboue defensively and i hate eboue's temperament so if hoyte could be a bit more assertive up top then id pick him every time.
props to justin hoyte im pleased for him

Id still pick Eboue over hoyte but i think Hoyte has improved a lot. I initially thought he was a useless English ****, thats not the case anymore...;)

I'd take Eboue over Hoyte any day. Hoyte might be a bit better defensively, but his complete lack of offensive threat makes him worse. Eboue is one of the best, if not the best offensive fullbacks in the premiership.

hes also got a big problem with his attitude
how many of u moan and slag off robben when he goes down like hes been shot and timewastes. and sulks at the ref? most, along with me. but eboue does all these things, regularly. his talent is not in doubt
hoyte will get better because of his will and desire to be a good player. will eboue?

I bet Hoyte becomes a great England National player before Eboue grows up.

Eboue's defensive lapses can be pretty stunning. He'd have to be the next coming of George Best before I'd tradeoff his offensive skills for his defensive weaknesses.

I don't disagree Eboue is good offensively, but Hoyte hasn't really had a chance to develop. Half the time he's played with the first team he's played out of position on the left anyway.

The nicest thing about Eboue is that he gives us a lot of width and can put a cross in. That said, I'd rather have a true winger on the right with Hoyte in support than Eboue's poor defense and Hleb's narrow play.

I'm in the camp that says Eboue is more talented but we'll never get the best out of him.

Hoyte seems like he just might surprise and in five years time be a class defender.

Thats good news .. I think Hoyte is definitely better than Chelsea's first chioice right back, Ferriera and better than many clubs' backup RBs ..
