It's quite simple. We win, and the chances are quite good we will be playing at least two (and hopefully three) additional matches at the end of the season. If we lose, then I honestly don't think the luck which has somehow allowed us to remain in the fifth spot in the table will last much longer.

When we are missing key elements of our defence, the players remaining need to increase their focus on defending. Those two early goals against Burnley should have taken the wind from their sails, but instead we were the club that lost momentum over the course of that match.

Fortunately for us, Paul McShane's red from Monday was successfully appealed and he will play tomorrow. Steve Watson has been recalled from his loan to help us with extra cover at the back should we need it.

On a day when other results in the league finally went against us, we needed the three points we earned on the other side of the West Midlands this afternoon. Now at least Albion's fate is in our own hands. If we earn three points on Sunday 6th May against Barnsley, we are in the play-offs. Lose or draw... then all is in flux until the whistles have blown.

Paul Robinson smartly found a header off the post by Kevin Phillips to get our only goal. It's too bad we missed on a number of other chances, but fortunately our defence was able to hang on and grind out the win.

Unfortunately, Diomansy Kamara rather stupidly earned a second yellow in second-half stoppage time which will see him banned from our final match against Barnsley... but at least he will be able to play in the play-offs, should we make it.
