I happened to be playing with my remote control last Wednesday and bumped into the River v Colo Colo game. I had completely forgot (lost track) of that group of the Libertadores Cup 2007.

I was pleasantly surprised to see many River players that normally don't start take part of the game. Colo Colo also used many youngsters. What a great opportunity to test players ... we all know that the Summer Tournaments are not a true measure of the potential of teams, merely a kick-off of pre-season. So these games in the middle of the local tournament are greatly appreciated by coaches. Way more conclusions can be found in these sort of games. Some players can re-gain the coach's trust after these games and if not start, at least take part of the subs for the following games.

I was wondering, since Chile is so close to Argentina (we just saw this in the NT friendly last week), maybe we can find dates to play a friendly with a chilean team. I would rather play against Colo Colo, as they seem to be the best team in their local tournament. Would appreciate your thoughts on this.

I think that having the chance of playing this international friendly and watching the reserves play would incentivate Boca fans to go to the Bombonera and pack it up. The only worry I have is that the security at the stadium should be tight ... we saw what visiting teams can do in the stands. Colo Colo's fans have a history of some violence. I recall that game against Gimnasia LP last semester. And they tend to come in important numbers every time they play in Bs As. Yet, I have no doubt that we would barely hear them ... the Bombonera is no joke. Not even for a mid-semester friendly.

How much would you guys pay to watch Bobadilla on goal ... youngsters Cahais, Diaz, Chavez, Mondaini or Bertolo? Or maybe even Krupoviesa who is coming back from a lengthy injury? Remember when Palermo did so roughly 7 years ago, in this case for a Libertadores game? And Krupo can score when he is in shape. His left leg is miraculous most of the time.

BUT, Boca fans MUST remember ... the Summer Tournaments are just a warm-up for these mid-semester meaningless games. These games do give a reason to the depth of squad and the large amounts of cash that the club spends every start of semester. They can indeed be part of the pride of the entire semester, if supported by the fans.

Oh ... was forgetting the most important part. Boca could probably be able to sell the rights to one of the important TV networks for the viewing pleasure of the entire continent. Export the pride of our reserves. Show the grandeur of our club. Visually and audiably, teach the continent the passion of our fans, even in these meaningless mid-season games.

It is a win-win situation.
