Thought it would be a fun thread for people to give their opinions on the top 5 goals by Arsenal this year. I guess I'll start:
1. Robin Van Persie- Arsenal v. Charlton 30 September 2006: Spectacular left footed volley from the top of the area that certainly will go down as one of the world's goals of the year.
2. Thierry Henry- Arsenal v. Blackburn 13 January 2007: Henry starts with the ball down the left in his own end, and uses his pace all the way up the flank, before a give and go with Fabregas frees him for a one touch chip to the far corner that Brad Friedel could do NOTHING about.
3. Thierry Henry- Arsenal v. Liverpool FA Cup 6 January 2007: A marvelous display of what Henry is all about. After winning the ball near the center circle, he passes it into space on the left, tracks it down himself, beats Carragher, crosses the area, creates more space, and slots home far post in one of the most breathtaking single efforts of the season.
4. Cesc Fabregas- Arsenal v. Manchester City 17 April 2007: After ending his goalless drought the weekend prior vs. Bolton, Cesc takes a deflected ball and puts a setting touch to it, before dispatching a swerving half-volley from 24 yards out past Isaksson.
5. Thierry Henry- Arsenal v. Manchester United 21 January 2007- Late into stoppage time, Cesc and Rosicky scrap with Paul Scholes for control of the ball, and the end result pops out to Eboue, who delivers a pin point precision cross to an oncoming Henry, who heads past Van der Sar. Makes the list for the rarity of an Henry header, and the undeniable fact that it gave us our second victory of the season over United, and no one else can say that this year.

You guys are ignoring Rosicky's against Liverpool. That was both stunning and important. As far as just how beautiful they were, here are my top five:
1. RVP @ Charlton
2. Fabregas v. City
3. Henry @ Blackburn
4. Rosicky in CL against whichever team, Hamburg perhaps?
5. Rosicky v. Liverpool
As far as importance, where I cheered the most:
1. Henry's header v United
2. Walcott's against Chelsea
3. Flamini's against Chelsea
4. Adebayor against United
5. Rosicky's first against shitpool in FA cup

1. Tom Rosicky vs. Hamburg (A)
It was just better than van Persies!
2. Robin van Persie vs. Charlton (A)
Meh, good goal but not like the best goal of the last 100 years like everyone makes out
3. Thierry Henry vs. Blackburn (A)
Great team goal with great finish
4. Thierry Henry vs. Reading (A)
1st goal was the best team goal we have scored this year
5. Cesc Fabregas vs. Man City
Excellent hit from someone who apparently has no confidence due to lack of goals.

HUH!!! Van Persie's goal against Charlton, hands down, is the goal of the season in the prem. Volley, one-time, top of the 18, off a cross that was moving, coming in at full speed.
Rosicky's goal was beautiful and hit well, but did not involve nearly the number of variables as RVP's goal.
IMO of course. ;)

Eboue's cross is mm perfect. Henry does a perfect job getting it down from a tough angle.

I know I cheered hardest for Adebayor at Man Utd and Flamini at Chelsea since I was at the games but RVP vs. Charlton was the best goal and Cesc's vs. City last week was another great one. Same as Rosicky vs. Hamburg.

It's probably going to start an argument but there have been a fair few better goals this season, EG Paul Scholes v Aston Villa and so on. In terms of Arsenal, I think Rosicky's technique, the opposition, the sheer distance and the fact it went straight as a die makes it better IMO anyway.

I tend to differentiate shots based on their true intention. Of that bunch Henry's goal against Blackburn is the best shot that did exactly as intended. Upper corner. Tough angle. Only goes in when done right. Goal.
Van Persie's shot and Cesc's blast are fantastic but coupled with that little bit of mystique that says the shots relied on a little bit of luck. Of those two RvP's looked the most impressive. You certainly can't recreate that everyday.
Aside: While viewing these I hit a link to the opening of the ManU game at the Emirates. ove the quip from the announcer as the teams take the field:
"Meetings between these two sides are never dull. League championships have been won, tempers have flared, and pizzas have been thrown." :D

Hey Skizz....the thread title is Arsenal Top 5 Goals.....not top goals in the prem....leave Scholes out of this! ;) :p

People shoot from distance frequently and sometimes hit it just right. Rosicky shoots from distance frequently. For every 10 shots, you're likely to see one connect just right. Not taking anything from him. It was a great shot, but people attempt those because they know that every now and again, they'll get it just right.
People just don't even attempt what Van Persie did. The Scholes goal was tremendous, but even that was a ball coming almost straight on with no defenders around him. That being said, the Scholes goal is on the same level IMO. The fact that both RVP and Scholes even thought to hit those balls the way they did raises the level of goals. IMO of course. If this was figure skating, which thank god it isn't, the level of difficulty on RVPs goal is just higher than Rosickys. Anyway, I look forward to having more arguments because at least that will mean that we're scoring goals.

RVP vs Charlton - Sure he was a bit lucky, since it hit his shin and not his foot. But a great goal.
Rosicky vs Hamburg - A stunning strike. It also stands out because it is so out of character for this team.
Henry vs Liverpool - Beat the entire Liverpool backline by himself. How many people pass to corner to themselves?
RVP vs ManU - I don't think enough credit is given to RVP for finishing on that goal. It may have cost us RVP for the rest of the season but it was a tremendous example of focus and finishing.
Theo vs Chelsea - That was a fantastic goal against an outstanding defense.

I don't agree with that at all. People try all the time. It's just a very low percentage shot. Horseface scored one just like it this past weekend.

Sorry, that's a nice goal from Ruud van Horsefacerooy, but it doesn't come close to van Persie's.

Exactly, sprinting and hurdling between two defenders to latch onto a cross to put it into the top corner is very different to volleying it first time with no pressure, at an easy height...which was great nevertheless.
