It looks like the CONCACAF region will be sending 6 teams instead of 4 to compete in this year's Pan-Am Games in Argentina. The U-22 squads from Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico, & USA had already qualified for the competition this summer but Haiti has been invited since both the Haitians & the reggae boyz have the best records in the Caribbean and will be strong contenders in the Olympic Qualifiers. Haiti will possibly be joined by either Canada, Honduras, or El Salvador.

The 2007 Pan American Games kick off in July, & will be hosted in Argentina. Brazil will be the only country not sending their U-22 squad as they will be sending their U-20 team to the competition.

Article confirms all of the teams in men's, women's and futsal. However, it says the men's competition will be U-22, but the following paragraph says U-20. This one says CONCACAF all over.

This tournament is becoming a frikkin' joke. Why have a U20 event DURING the U20 WC? Just makes no sense.

Six of the teams competing in the PAG are already competing in Canada at the U20 WC. So that's six U20 B-teams, at best, at the PAG.

And then, you've got some of the teams not even sending 20s but sending 17s. Oh, that'll be competitive.

What was wrong with keeping this a U22 event?

i assumed that this would be a U22 tourney, as the PanAm games are considered a precursor to the Olympics.

It should be like that, but they want an U20 tournament with B- teams, since the top teams will be playing the YWC

I thought's CONMEBOL's excuse was something about U-23 teams being expensive, or not being able to bring in their best U-23s from Europe, or something like that.

The South American teams sent U-20 squads in 2003 (and still handled the U-22 CONCACAF sides) and withdrew (except for a makeshift Uruguay team) in 1999, so they clearly haven't cared much about this tournament in a while.

CR has not defined the team yet, it would probably be an U17 + a few B U20 players that wont play the YWC
