It sounds like an immitation Sams Army.

Why dont both of the groups join together? Is there really a dislike between the USA Supporters and Sams Army..the novel idea would be for the 2 groups to join together, in one section, maximizing the noise for the US Nats..I think this should happen, as there simply arent enough USA Fans to form their own separate groups in different parts of the stadium, the noise and cohesivness just wont happen...If I was "USA Supporters", I would consider joining Sams Army, as I have attended games with them before, and the atmosphere is indeed very fun.

I have nothing against the Sammers, they really made us proud at the World Cup. The only down thing is that Sam's Army is turning a little too yuppie and corporate as of late. I'm glad that these other fans broke off and formed its own group. It'd be counterproductive if they joined Sam's Army and have their ideals conflict with the rest of the club.

I just think its a shame that 2 USA support groups sortof have a rivalry going, considering theres not that many of us, the few there are should try to get along, I think.

I'm unaware of a "rivalry" between "USA Supporters" and "Sam's Army". There are some poseurs on this board, notably the "Yank Army" folks who espouse the same rhetoric found in the hooligan ultra firms and go out of their way to denigrate Sam's Army as a bunch of old fat lazy fans as being the only disaffected ones.

For the most part the fans willing to stand and sing for 90 minutes gravitate towards the same sections, are more than willing to wear red, and could care less whether they're referred to as Sam's Army or USA Supporters. They don't care if the flag above them is one of Ed Kirwin's Big Ass flags, or the "Rattlerzilla".

Don't mistake some of the posturing on this board, or the USA yahoo list, for what does - or does not - happen in the stadiums.

The fact is, some of the younger, less mature, fans won't be happy until we recreate what they see on TV from Italy or South America with seats on fire, and huge flares covering the stands in smoke.

My advice is to show up, wear red, not get to hung up about the seat number on your ticket, stand for the whole game, and sing with everyone else.

i've met 35 year olds who miss being able to go to their games in italy with the entire stands covered in smoke and flares...i don't really think it has much to do with age(although i guess the younger u are the less u care/think about the consequences) but more to do with the type of person you are and how you see fit to supporting your team. for me, i like the south american/italian style, just because i enjoy the "crowd experience" as much as the game itself, and maybe because i'm a younger "less mature" type of fan, but that's me and those are my preferences. if someone else doesn't see it the same way then that's fine, it's when u start mixing the different types of people that things get hairy.

Yeah, because we've never stood with anyone from Sam's Army, never worked with Sam's Army at all, we hate everything Sam's Army stands for and wish it would go away.

I love how some people have no clue and (regarding the hoolie talk) no sense of humor.

For the most part the fans willing to stand and sing for 90 minutes gravitate towards the same sections, are more than willing to wear red, and could care less whether they're referred to as Sam's Army or USA Supporters. All of which, aside from not caring if we're referred to as "Sam's Army" (because we're not a part of Sam's Army) describes everyone I've ever met in Yank Army.

Don't mistake some of the posturing on this board, or the USA yahoo list, for what does - or does not - happen in the stadiums.

Most of the recent talk on here is about preparations for the Paraguay game (which admittedly I haven't read most of because I'm not going to be at the game) and people talking about where they can watch the Confederations Cup in Bum********, Wyoming, so I'm not quite sure what you're talking about.

The fact is, some of the younger, less mature, fans won't be happy until we recreate what they see on TV from Italy or South America with seats on fire, and huge flares covering the stands in smoke.

Most seats in US stadiums are made of plastic, so even if we covered them in gasoline they wouldn't burn, they would melt. And what exactly is wrong with smoke? For all your ranting about it, when has it ever hurt our team? (Even when some idiot threw 2 smoke bombs on the field when we played Honduras, it didn't affect the game)

My advice is to show up, wear red, not get to hung up about the seat number on your ticket, stand for the whole game, and sing with everyone else.

Don't think anyone would disagree with you.

I'm with Sam's Army since these wonderful assumptions have really just turned me off USA Supporters. Thanks.

See, your problem is that you can't read carefully. I specifically said there were a select few sammers that destroyed the environment. I don't give a two shiites what people call the section of people i'm standing in. I only use the names SA, sammers, and USA Supporters here for purposes of describing the problems and what will happen. Everyone here just wants to create an awesome, soccer loving environment where everyone actually does participate for 90 minutes. Everyone except for the select few sammers of course.

I dont know what andy is talking about. ( I dont?)
we dont use flares usally (we usally dont)
and we dont get in to many fights (not many fights and all and no organaized/pre planned fights)
we dont start fights (not that I know of)
just as long as we dont run from em (we, not me)

So nike blues i know what I am talking about and you dont.

Did I see someone here state that plastic doesn't burn but only melts?

:D

You think we make stadiumseats out of old newspapers and Xmas trees?

I distinctly remeber the referee stopping play to pick up smoke bombs and take them out of play because players were trying to play through them. If that's not affecting the game, I don't know what is.

And as for the question about where we all stand, we are all usually in the same section. We all do work together at matches and for the most part, the anti-SA rhetoric on the USA Supporters Mailing List has died down. Most of us who engaged in it to begin with were either venting or just deemed it cool, for whatever reason, to bash Sam's Army.

Luckily, all that's gone now.

I did it because it is cool. Hey, let's no bash on TheMutts. Sure, the kid has never been to a game so he really doesn't have the first hand knowledge to backup what he is saying, but he's right though. You rarely see flares, and fighting is just not a part of any supporter's groups idea of fun. If you fight in a stadium today, you will be kicked out and possibly arrested. Nobody is going to defend you either.

Just keep in mind that if you go to a match and stand in a supporters section, don't be upset if you see that the people around you aren't really watching the match. Most supporters, including myself, feel that we can provide the team with that extra oomph to get a result.

All that aside, if AndyMead was referring to the project mayhem of a few years ago when he was talking about hooliganism, I am all for that. I am sick of all our Concacaf opponents, save Canada, harassing our team when we go there. When alll those **********ers come here, I expect us to give them some of the same treatment.

I wasn't. I was refering to the vague hoolie language you see in this very thread. The "we don't start fights, but we do finish them" kind of crap. The "we'll sort those mexies and guats out" posturing stuff. It's not real unless there's pyro and and the suburbanites are scared. The bravado and need to be bullies. Not a single bit of it has anything to do with soccer, or "supporting" the team on the field.

Project Mayhem was interesting, but it died a quick death after its self appointed leader was caught reselling USA/Honduras tickets to the highest bidder on eBay. Pretty crass, if you ask me. That's the great thing about Sam's Army/USA Supporters - if you need a ticket, just show up to the tailgate, more often than not someone will just give a spare if you're dressed in red. The whole thought of buying a block of tickets at a group rate from USSF under the pretense of taking groups of US fans, then selling them for profit on eBay is just sickening.
