Just a side note if anyone caught American Idol tonight as Jordin Sparks sang "You'll Never Walk Alone". She received rave reviews from all judges with Simon Cowell stating she could release her version of the song as a single.

After seeing your post, I fast forwarded my wife's recording to the end (she was the last singer) and I must say it was very good. Gave me chills.

Should I be embarrassed?

This is foreshadowing at its clearest!

It can only mean one thing!

Number Six! Here we come!

That's what i did -- good version but as Usscouse might say "I knew Gerry Marsden, Gerry Marsden was a friend of mine, and you Jourdan are no Gerry Marsden:D

Number Six! Here we come!

She should have shouted "Beat Chelski" at the end then:D

So Simon Callow says make a record of it...It was good but sounded like she resorted to shreeeeeking at times....ducks for cover..:)

Frank Sinatra made it to #9 in '45
Conway Twitty did ok in the '50s
Gerry And The Pisstakers made #1 in '63 (I believe I suggested it to him LB) #48 in the US

And the Kop made it really famous............!!!

She really isn't a Gerry Marsden

Thank goodness...:D

American Idol has done a rendition of it before. I like this version better.

But in honor of the day, does it really ever get better than this? It must be the accent, but wow this sounds good!

Paula said that only someone with amazing vocals can pull that song off.

I can't sing worth a damn, but I think my 10 pint-infused version along with the rest of the crowd at the Mad Dog in the Fog after last year's cup final was pretty good, if I do say so myself. :D

Right I can't sing at all but after Istanbul I sounded great as we drank our toasts.

As much as I am a fan of The Reds, YNWA isn't the exclusive property of Liverpool FC. I hope someone knows that it comes from American musical theater, not Gerry and the Pacemakers.

What kind of idiots do you think we are? Doesn't mean I can't think it's the best version. I own, on my ipod, versions by Elvis Presley, Johnnie Cash, Ella Fitzgerald, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Ronan Tynan, the original cast of Carousel (by Rogers and Hammerstein in which the song originally appeared) and Gerry. For aesthetic and emotional reasons, I favor Gerry's version, then Elvis, and Johnnie Cash third. Johnnie's was done as he was dying, and has only a haunting organ to accompany him -- its incredible. So don't be so pedantic.

I must admit that I'm somewhat of a traditionalist when it comes to YNWA, and I felt this Idol version was poor. All fake passion and high notes and not a version I would consider as inspiring. Left me somewhat cold.
