We hardly knew ya. His public whining has made me really have a disdain for him. Our other backups who didn't play much never whined as much as he has. I wouldn't be surprised if he's part of why we didn't have a better season.

It was a stupid idea to bring this guy in. Instead we should've held on to Pedretti whose technique, range of passing, and exemplary attitude created harmony on and off the pitch. I just feel so sorry that Lyon ruined his promising career.

Bremen want this guy and are willing to exchange Klose so obviously this deal is a steal for Lyon if it were to happen.

His wages are too high. Besides, the guy doesn't wanna come.

I know he doesn't want to come but they dont want him going to Bayren and I would sell him outside of Germany because thats in Bremen's best interest regardless where he wants to go. Doing whats best for the club is more important than pleasing the player. You think he'd refuse to play for Lyon and sit out if he was sold there ? Umm no, he'd eventually get over it and learn to like it. If Lyon couldnt afford him they wouldnt be linked with him and they have shown their interest in the press.

Confirmed. Diarra has signed with Les Girondins. I actually think this is a good move, in terms of his career. He'll be a starter at Bordeaux.

Glad he refused Portsmouth and chose Bordeaux. The mark of a true Frenchman. :)

He's not Julien Faubert, that's for sure.

Yes a French player choosing to stay in France rather than going to England does not happen too often.

I really think his decision could have been based on these important factors.

1. He was miserable in England while at Liverpool, and while Portsmouth isn't that similar to Liverpool, Alou had his best years thus far arguably at Lens, which is in a similar type of situation as Bordeaux, a typically top 5-6 L1 team.

2. After Domenech slammed Julien Faubert's move to West Ham (credit to SportBoy on getting that link), Alou, who is a Domenech favorite, would have thought, "if Bordeaux is better than West Ham in Domenech's mind, then the same applies in my situation."

3. He would start and wouldn't have that high of expectations on him considering that Bordeaux are in a bit of a rebuilding mode.

Anyway, happy to see him not leave France and get an opportunity to play.

I agree about points 1 and 2 but Im not sure Bordeaux are in a rebuilding mode. Now that he has signed with them and the prospect of a few more signings, I fully expect they think that they are aiming for a top 3 finish and teams in rebuilding modes dont have inspirations that lofty. I think they were taken aback by Mavuba and Faubert wanting to leave because they were counting on those players and now they were forced to sell them. After they left I think the team realized they could still contend for a champions league spot by bringing in Chalme and Diarra.

It'll be hard to find his replacement that's equally good but not as ambitious as him. An international level player who's willing to accept competition.
