Aside from the little clip in the paper last weekend, that RSL is doing the obvious and cherry picking young talent in Phoenix (why wasn't the Galaxy doing this?)and that MLS Phoenix is still doing "something"...My question is where are they?
Peter Wilt (MLS Milwaukee) is answering ongoing questions in a thread on the Milwaukee forum...would it be possible for peeps or maybe even the man beind the push to do something of this nature? Otherwise, things are getting kind of stale...

The RSL Super Y League team is what other MLS teams are beginning to do in their areas. Arizona is part of the marketing zone for RSL per MLS which is why they are here. The same thing will happen in LA and Colorado with youth teams as well. I don't see it as "Cherry Picking", rather as trying to cultivate talent from within their zone which is smart. MLB could take a lesson from MLS on this.
As for things getting stale, I completely disagree. The scope of what PHX Soccer Development is working on is huge and not something that will happen in a short period of time. Just because Peter Wilt jumps on Big Soccer and alerts people as to what he is trying to accomplish doesn't mean that PHXSD should do the same. With all due respect to Wilt, there is a BIG difference between talk and action. Expect action from PHXSD sometime in the near future.
Meanwhile, over 1,100 people have sent in applications to become involved with MLS Phoenix Rising since early March. People are still sending them in to this date.
Hang tight PHXInferno. Things are being worked on and there is a lot that I am unaware of that is going on behind the scenes. But know this, PHXSD are working hard to make this happen.

Meant it in a logical sense, as in why LA didn't do something years ago even before League rules for player development. Before teams were kinda on their own. I understand that RSL has been given a larger area to pull from since their market is so small...

"Stale" might be relative to which side of the looking glass you are on. As far as Peter Wilt is concerned, he was invited by Milwaukee supporters to post. He is the standard that GMs should strive for when it comes to frank and candid discussions, and keeping fans engaged. Talk and action? He seems to being doing both quite well...
1,100 is a great start! You should receive all the kudos for this Ron, there couldn't be a better person to push this grassroots effort!:D

Great question about LA. But I guarantee they will be all over this. I heard a figure that 20% of all American MLS players are from southern California!
Just think if this program was in place 5 years ago. If so, and RSL was on to the abilities of Robbie Findley and Brad Evans, they would of had both players this year.

Although I haven't met Wilt, I know a lot of people who know him and I respect him very much. But he is not the norm. He is a great communicator engaging the fans and that is his style. What I was trying to put across was that PHXSD is just trying to work quietly, under the radar if you will... Trust me, they are working very hard!

Thanks! It has been fun and has brought together a lot of soccer fans. Great times are ahead for all of us!

We just gotta make sure we freeze the RSL pipeline when we're awarded our expansion team...

I was wondering why I hadn't heard anything about my application. I can't believe 1,100 have signed. Actually make it 1,101 - I'll get my roommate to do it.

No doubt about it.

Sorry Palermo... Send me a PM. I have tried to reply to each one that comes in via email. Maybe yours slipped through the cracks?
