I’m taking a course in French culture right now, largely to help prepare for fall semester, which I will spend studying in Montpellier. For our final essay, we have been given an immensely broad prompt – we can write about almost anything so long as it’s specific enough to be given some in-depth treatment in about 10 pages.
Here’s my idea : I want to write about the culture of racism among supporters groups in France, especially PSG and OM. In my cursory research to this point, and from what I already suspect, it seems as if for Paris, racism is part of being a hardcore supporter, whereas in Marseille, the team serves as a force of unity rather than division.
I’m not asking for anybody to write my paper for me. What I would appreciate is if some of the French here might be able to point me toward some good sources (in either English or French). Newspaper articles, books, scholarly work, anything at all. I’m having a hard time finding French-language materials in American research databases, and any help you could give would be much appreciated.
