He's a bit of an enigma to say the least. I love watching him play, as he is always pushing forward and he's probably the best dribbler on OL. I'm just tired of his annual summer flirtations with other clubs.

Best dribbler? I dont think so. Ben Arfa, Baros, and Juninho are all better than him.

Govou has his moments. Not too often though.

Ben Arfa maybe. I'd disagree about Juninho and Baros. Baros dribbles fast when no defender is around him. Juninho can dribble well, but not at that speed that Govou can.

That's how he trains his dribble techniques. It's like drunk kung fu. Everyone thought he was nimble but, actually, he was stoned.

So how much trouble is he going to be in?

sidney has always been a real party hound, and in his youth that was the big rap on him.

he's been much more serious in the last few years, but this sunday was boumsong's birthday and they had a big to-do in a downtown club.

i just hope this doesn't turn into another ninogate!

If I was footballer I'd probably be in the newspapers once a month for something foolish, I too have a penchant for partying a bit too hard haha. I can't judge ol Syd. But he really shouldn't have been driving, he's GOVOU for godsakes, at least a 1/3 of Lyon would have given him a lift home.

my thoughts exactly. i'm no party hound anymore, i only go out maybe twice a year but i probably wasn't far from 2.6 friday... that's what cabs are for!

its reckless, stupid and reflects poorly on the club. If OL were smart they would make an example of this and bench him for a month, especially since this isn't the first time that a player has done something stupid and gotten alot of media attention in the process. If there arent consequences it just keeps happening. If I were a professional athlete I think my priorities would be a bit more geared towards keeping my body in shape and not abusing the alcohol.

benching him for a month? shirley you can't be serious!

i don't disagree with you generally, but you have to take the particularities into account...

first, this incident is probably inhabitual; the drinking went on at JAB's birthday party, not just going out after a match.

keeping your body in shape? have you seen sid's body? if that's not in shape i don't know what is!

govou has already had that big talking to; during a period when he was injured several years ago he was seen almost nightly at the fish, a barge cum nightclub on the river, but since then he's started a family, and one can assume he's calmed down.... i don't think he would be occasional captain if he hadn't. probably that would be the best sanction: no more armband.

He can drink all he wants, I don't have any quarrel with that.

But he was VERY VERY reckless in driving. Someone could have been killed, and it's a good thing he was stopped by the police before something happen. That's not excusable at all, and I wouldn't mind seeing him benched for that either.

What he does to himself isn't anyone's concern as long as it involves only himself, but driving while drunk is one of the most stupid things anyone can do.

actually, he CAN'T drink all he wants. i hope he made an exception because he may not play again until jan 10...

but drunken driving is a very serious offense and someone as intelligent as he really has no excuse for not calling a cab.

How can we be surprised when young players like Ben Arfa turn into brats once they become a professional footballer? Players are coddled and when they act stupid and do irresponsible things noone expects them to act like adults. I heard Govou was yelling at the police officers while he was being arrested telling them that OL was going to shut down the police magistrate!

He deserves a severe punishment from the club for that alone, never mind the drunk driving.

I think this time it will be the end. He will play out his contract and become a free agent and hook on with another team somewhere. At his age and having a major injury he wont get offers he wants(as usual) but I think he'll take anything at this point. Mid table to bottom table Spanish teams seems obvious.
