I just started watching the EPL about a year ago and have been trying to decide which club to support. I have narrowed it down to Aston Villa, Newcastle, and West Ham. I am not looking for someone to TELL me which club to support, I plan on making that decision on my own. I am just interested in what lifelong EPL fans have to say about each club. After all, knowing the "personality" and reputation of the club and fans is an important part of choosing for me. Thanks for the help.

All 3 are MASSIVE clubs. You should avoid MASSIVE clubs. These include:

Man City
Tottenham
Villa
Newcastle
West Ham
Everton

And in 20 years will probably include Chelsea as well.

Hammers - good exciting team. If they stay up they will probally be pushing for UEFA cup next season. Good manager. They have Tevez! Quality fans.

Magpies - good team. Could be pushing for UEFA cup next season but not sure about their current manager. Quality fans.

Villans - boring team who will be in the top half of the bottum half of the table. Average fans.

What about Spurs and Red Devils?

Aston Villa are from Birmingham. How can anything from Birmingham be exciting?

Newcastle are a good team to start supporting now as when they get Owen back next season and start kicking ass you won't appear like a tag along.

I lurv the racism of the West Ham fans. SUPPORT THEM NOW. DO EET.

With Lerner and Martin O'Neil I don't think they'll be mid-table anymore. They've only had a year of building and Lerner wants to be a successful club. Villa will be gunning for a 6-7th place finish next year.

These days anything lower than fourth is effectively mid-table. A club with the resources and fanbase of Villa should be aiming for the top four. But then so should Newcastle, Everton, Spurs and City.

Of the three i would pick Newcastle. They have fantastic supporters even if they seldom win anything. They came close some years ago under Keegean and i can see them being among the top 4 in the future. And should they ever win there would be one hell of a party.

Reasons FOR being a West Ham fan

Great home support
Best away support in the league
Exciting, attacking, on the gound football
Great youth prospects
New owners are billionaires
Eggert Magnusson is the chairman, possibly the only newcomer with credible history in football
Tevez
History
Bright future, with 60k seater stadium being planned and Europe on the agenda in 5 years

Reasons AGAINST being a West Ham fan

Media hatred
Terrible defence no matter who is in the side
No game is comfortable viewing, with the oppo always looking like scoring
Old fashioned in terms of how the club is run (about to change with new owners)
Mascherano (one of the painful examples of what being West Ham is like)
Everyone wants to sue you
