Very disappointing. At first I thought it was cool that Powell was showing some dignity for a change (I love his drunk ass in the Thin Man series), and then I realized that this is "The Movie in Which Powell Shows Some Dignity for a Change." A jumbled mess with way too many dumb dumb life lessons.

I liked it. Then again, I am Catholic. My wife, a somewhat mainstream Lutheran, thought it was weird. The kid has constant conversations with saints though the movie is ambiguous as to whether he is really seeing the saints or just having hallucinations. (And the part about the UK converting to the Euro seems funny now)
My take is that Catholics, people who are "spiritual" though not necessarily religious, and nonbelievers who reject material society will like it. Others will find it weird.
