that article shows how we still have a little way to go before we start REALLY flooding the pool with talent.

Soccer in the US HAS to stop being a huge pay to play ordeal. For little league baseball (a sport which requires far more equipment) my friend has to pay $20 a season per kid so they can pay the Umps. That sounds far more reasonable than $1000/season for a game that requires a ball, some open space and something to indicate a goal.
