Ive noticed lateley that alot of people have gotten on Momo case. The lad is going through a rough patch but that happens when your only 22. He has had a difficult season with his injuries and has looked alot shaky in the last few matches but the lad is talented. Yes he is No Viera as of yet but i did not expect him to be so soon. We must all have faith in him as under Rafa he will learn the art of passing the footy and maybe a few goals here and there. Lets not forget the work ethic he has during a match with not stop tackles and the heart of a lion. I believe that Momo is Liverpool through and through and will come of age in the next couple of seasons . Patrick Viera wanna be i think not this is a new era and his name is MOMO SISSOKO. I feel the lad has a goal coming and i do hope it's agains Chelski

Love his tackles and love his heart...Rafa seems to be giving him chances to test Momo's passing play in the last few matches by placing him in front of Alonso and Masch and letting him make decisions. To be fair, I thought Momo made some good passes vs Boro, especially the one to Pennant before the "infamous" mishit.
Still his passing is and always has been inadequate for L'pool level but he is improving, although Mascherano might be taking some of his thunder (I saw that phrase on "Friends")...

I love momo's work ethic and defensive capabilities. I hope we hang onto him, although I see him behind Masch and Alonos in the pecking order and when stevie starts playing a central role he'll be fourth choice in my opinion. Not to say he won't get alot of game time, we play like 50+ games a year.

I thought the momo discussion was wrapped up in another thread?

nobody doubts his passion and effort.
we just doubt that he should be in the first XI.
a mighty useful squad player, though.

Blame Benitez (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N155677070420-1546.htm)for Sissoko's performance on Wednesday.
I want to say something about Sissoko, because he was working really hard for us and was a key player against Barcelona and in a lot of other games," said the Spaniard.
"Okay, he didn't have the best game, but I think it's important to support players who always give 100 per cent.
"The other day I tried to change things. I was using Mascherano behind Gerrard and Momo. But because the other team was playing really deep, compact and narrow, it was really difficult for him.
"But it was my decision, and some people may say I made a mistake, but I was sure we could have a good game with this system, or at least I was checking if it was a good idea. Now we know more about the players."

I'm as big a Momo fan as there is, and yeah, I think fans have been pretty hard on him. He made a couple embarrassing plays against 'Boro but on the whole wasn't terrible. There's no way we get rid of him - he's far too useful, and I would dread facing him in EPL games. He runs all day, covers a ton of ground, makes good, tough tackles, and his distribution is getting better.
He didn't have much space on Wednesday, but he's capable of making some galloping runs. I've seen it from him in a Valencia shirt.
One thing's for sure - Rafa's in Momo's corner. That's all we need to know.

I agree with all of this. We have a perfect mix of four great central midfielders
and it will show next season. Momo's problem will be demonstrating he's a better choice than Mascherano. That won't be easy. But in a three man central midfield Momo is a very good choice.

Rafa didn't exactly prevent any pressure being heaped on Momo when he compared him to Patrick Viera from day 1. The dude can be completely commanding in the midfield or a disaster. He's had matches where he just gives ball after ball away and looks out of control.

Rafa has been playing him out of position and his weakness has been exposed. Masch is a more polished player, but there is a role for Momo and he can only get better.
He certainly isn't a player who will be leaving any time soon and shouldn't.

Nobody's thinking of selling him. And I hope he makes it - great heart and work effort, but what frustrates me is when Momo wastes all the effort, giving the ball away or running into defenders. Perhaps he's still finding his feet after the injury - I certainly hope he does find his passing and blossoms.

he has his positional play sculpted into his haircut, but he can't see it.
pity...

If Momo is happy to play 3rd or 4th choice in Midfield next season then i'm sure he'll stay. I see Xabi, Stevie and Masch as the first three with momo fourth. We all know that Rafa is interested in bringing in Simao or Alves for the right so i'm sure Gerrard will get his wish and play in the centre more often with Simao/Alves and Pennant interchanging on the right.
I have a feeling Momo might be used as a sweetener to get Eto'o.

We need some world class help at left wing too - Arry Sick Note may or may not play for us again. Regarding Momo, I've been one of his bigger critics but I'd be really upset if we tossed him out. What he does, he does as well as anyone in the world - disrupting the opposition flow and winning the ball. Obvious problem is what he typically does next - disrupting us with sh*te distribution / poor decisions. He's definitley a squad player; we need to use him better (by having a Masch or a Xabi near enough to him to distribute the ball once he wins it) and try to develop the big flat spots in his game over time.
I for one would hate to to see us face him on the pitch.

Liverpool Are Bigger Than Juventus, Says Sissoko (http://www.goal.com/en-india/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=401714)
"I believed that Liverpool are a much bigger club than Juventus and decided not to speak to them any longer," he told the Daily Star Sunday.
"I'm a Liverpool player and I want to show to the people here, to everyone, that I'm already at a big club.
"I'm happy to be in Liverpool. I did want to stay despite the interest. That's why I signed a new contract.
"There are five midfielders for two positions. I'm happy in Liverpool and I want to play for the club as long as I can."

Momo is killing me.......
I think that Rafa needs to seriously consider swapping Lucas for Momo in the pecking order. Lucas showed class in his 20+ minutes against Kirby. I think if he is given the amount of game time Momo is getting he will develop alot quicker and be more beneficial to our title hopes.
IMO....Momo's gotta go.

We should not get rid of him and despite the rubbish that Daily Mail wrote bout him wanting to leave i think we keep him for the long term. We have 5 of the best CM in the world...NO team has a better depth or mix of CM and no other teams CM are so young with so much potential. How could you not want these players in your team when they can offer so much.
Gerrard (27 yrs old) a box-to-box midfielder with a more attacking than defending mentality.
Sissoko (22) another box-to-box midfielder however has a more defensive than attacking mentality. Very hard tackler and almost goes over the top with his effort and intensity. Will become more composed with age...hes ONLY 22.
Mascherano (23) along with Yaya Toure of Barca is one of the best DM in the world. Is the BEST slide tackler in the world with excellent timing, therefore hardly gets carded, which is rare for a DM. Also has great short passing...very similar to Makelele in his younger days.
Alonso (25) a deep lying playmaker who is 1 of the best passes in the world, long and short passing and great at thru balls to set up attacking plays. Excellent at keeping possession...exactly the type of play that Benitez commented on after the match when he said something like "we tried to play along the ground and keep possession, whilst they (Kirkby) played long balls".
Lucas (20) similar to Alonso but possibly the most composed and best in the squad at keeping possession. Also has great leadership thru captaining Brazil U20 team.
