buying the canadiens and rebranding them would be a bad misstep. hell, buy the predators/panthers/thrashers and move them to hartford.
RedBull Whalers, baby!!!!

Right province. Wrong city.
Red Bull should establish a club in Quebec City

That would be a major 'Wow!' if they purchased Les Habs and rebranded them. This is one of the Top 10 storied franchises in North American sports. I would say people would go bezerk, but the way the NHL is going these days, it wouldn't suprise me if no one cared.
Anyway NHL would have a major problem if they let them happen.
As someone else said, give them another team, leave the original six alone. Hell give them the Devils. Actually, Pittsburgh would be a good match for Red Bull.

There would be a riot (no joke) if that happened. So it won't. A new team maybe, but not the Canadiens.

The Devils? Um, no. And have two teams named "Red Bull" in adjacent cities within New York Region? That would work well.
Red Bull doesn't use black and gold as a color scheme, so Pittsburgh is out.
How about they buy your favorite team instead.

well, de grandpre's dream would come true. good for him. he is doing a poor job here anyhow but really wants to make a name for himself somewhere. my guess is he is pushing the buyout.
i think the buy would be a complete joke. the canadiens are a classic and if they became a soda pop team i would hope they lose all the time. can you see koivu in a red bull jersey? i doubt jaques plante and lanny macdonald would be pleased about the change. btw, the crowd claps when they score at the forum. much calmer than a caffienated ny crowd. does it make sense or is it just corporate greed? well, it is easy to figure that one out!
what a joke.
btw, red bull is, or a least was, illegal in switzerland, france, finland, and i think maybe sweden. not too positive about that, though, and things have changed. either way i think it is crap and people don't really need it, but we do love our sugar and caffeine, but our kids don't need it. in my opinion, we all need to slow down and relax a bit anyhow.
it was just approved for sale in canada in 2004. in canada the cans have warning lables like cigarettes do here in the usa.

Hahaha, what sucks is that like . . . Red Bull buys our team. And now for us Devils fans, Red Bull goes and buys a competitor? I don't like where this is going!

Your right. Montreal would burn like the Paris riots last year.
Pittsburgh is fine, they are financially unstable. RB would blow up that team and change the colors. My team is one of the original 6 and exempt from name change in my previously stated rule.

In defense, the Canadians were owned by a brewery for many years, so they have been under the control of beverages before. Only difference, to a Canadian (the people) beer might be more sacred than hockey, so that must have been acceptable.

They just recently completed a deal for a new arena, so they'll be fine.

How about the Capitals? They have always been an insignficant franchise with god-awful uniforms. Let RB have them. Perhaps they can bring together NY and DC fans alike to root for a common cause :)

I love hockey and agree with the one Poster who said hands off traditional franchises like the Canadiens. Just my opinion, not saying there is anything evil or illegal about it. I will say this - I will NEVER root for any team over the Rangers, including any Red Bull franchise.

Hey guys, I live in Canada and I assure you that the montreal canadians will always be the canadians. You don't know these quebuecers they will start a riot if there even is speculation the name might change. So I dont think you'll be hearing le red bulls du montreal anytime soon.
