Del Piero didn't get a lot of playing time at WC2002, and I haven't seen his name in Italy's recent Euro qualifying results. Where'd he go? It seems like he's still doing the business for Juve, and he's Italy's active leading scorer, so why isn't he on the field? Is he finished as a national team player? Enlighten me, please.

well, him and several other players werent named to the Italian squad for the game against N Ireland, cause they were givin a well deserved rest. for the world cup... i dunno. A bunch of the European players didnt do well in the WC cause they were still tired for the champions league. last year.

Del Piero and Totti have both been called into camp ahead of next week's qualifier at Finland. It's been a while - due to injuries, etc - since both have been there together. It'll be interesting to see if he fields both of them, however. I'm fairly certain Corradi will be the lone front-runner, so it's just a matter of who/how many he puts behind and beside him.
